ParticipantHi Steve…hope you can help…moderated edits are a requirement by our Church.
Moderated additions for “add my directory entry” and “submit new entry” are working with one exception, a final email indicating the entry is approved/published is not sent. Is this correct?
Afterwards, any subsequent “edit my directory” results in a dialog message that indicates the user is “not authorized to edit”, however, the edit actually DOES get posted to the management queue and will be published upon approval. Unfortunately, no email notifications are sent to the Admin or User.
BTW…non-moderated adds and edits work fine.
New Users are registered as Subscribers and only the Moderated Add, Moderated Edit and appropriate View flags are set.
Thanks…Rick

re: a final email indicating the entry is approved/published is not sent. Is this correct?
Right, there actually is not an email sent when an entry has been approved. This feature is on the to do list. … We are talking about Form, right? I ask because this is posted in the Link forum. Only Form will send emails, Link does not.re: Afterwards, any subsequent “edit my directory” results in a dialog message that indicates the user is “not authorized to edit”, however, the edit actually DOES get posted to the management queue and will be published upon approval.
CAn you post a screenshot of the “Edit My Directory” link … so I can orient myself. Also please post a screenshot of the error message. I need the exact message so I can track down where exactly it is being triggered.re: New Users are registered as Subscribers and only the Moderated Add, Moderated Edit and appropriate View flags are set.
Go to the Connections : Roles admin page, rest All roles and capabilities and reapply them. There are plugins that mismanage them and break them for other plugins. S2Member is one such plugin. resetting usually always fixes it. May it will for you too.12/03/2014 at 12:48 pm #311643Rick Wielopolski
ParticipantYes (sorry), this is a FORM issue and we use LINK to allow users to Reg, View, Submit and Edit.
FYI…I wiped out all (test) users and directory entries, reset roles and reapplied but this did not solve the problem.
We can live without final notice of approval, but proper notification (message and email) of edited entry is required since the entry will “disappear” while in the admin queue for moderation. Submission works…editing does not.
Attached are 8 steps (zipped) to outline the occurrence. Just before the submission or edit results are posted to the page, the dialog “Submission is being processed” properly shows and then the resultant message is posted.
Hope this helps you resolve the issue.

The first thing I see, since you have Form and Link, you should deactivate the “Submit New Entry” list action on the Connections : Settings admin page under the Display tab. This will allow users to submit entries that are not linked to their account.
Oh, I think I see the issue … I bet if you change the role capability so the edit submission does not need to be moderated it’ll work fine, right? Can you confirm?

ParticipantThanks Steve….yes, as noted above, non-moderated adds and edits work fine. However, we need moderation.
Also, we intentionally allowed members to add entries for other people, such as young children or the elderly, who do not have emails and would not be logging into the directory. The admin would assign them to a Family since people cannot do that themselves and then the Church directory would be complete.

Thanks for confirming … I do see you did mention it did work fine. I apologize, I forgot.
I’m pretty sure I know exactly what the issue is and will include a fix in 8.1.6 which is due out this month.

ParticipantGood…this is a show stopper. Will wait for R8.1.6 and willing to test in advance, if it helps.

I’m still working on the update … a performance enhancement I’m working on which significantly reduce the number of queries when working with/displaying categories is taking a bit more time than I thought it would. I’m thinking I’ll have to skip that for this release cycle and merge in the other fixes … basically I’m saying soon. Sorry for the delay.
