GuestHey Steven,
I am running WP 4.o, U-Design theme, Connections 8.1.1.
The other problems talked about were solved with an upgrade on the server.
The problem we are having currently is a partial loading. In the state of Texas there are 603 companies. When we try to load them, only 35 are loading.
We are now with Go Daddy for hosting. The u-design theme has been upgraded to 4.0 from the 3.9.2 version. We have not upgraded Connections to 3.1.5 yet.
Everything worked well prior to U-design 4.0. We have not tried importing since moving to Go Daddy.
Any ideas on what the problem may be?
Thanks,
Jerry

GuestI should also say that I installed the plug in, “All In One WP Security” since the last time I imported.
We are using, Connections CSV,0.9 and Connections Slim Plus – Template, 1.0.1.

Are you trying to load all 603 on the same page? I’m not sure that’ll work. I recommend no more than 50, max which is why all the templates which support pagination default to 20 per page. This is for the same reasons WordPress defaults to 5 (or is it 10) posts per page. You’ll run into page loading issues.
Things to try …
Increase the memory assigned to PHP, normally I suggest 128MB, but you may need more, so try 256MB.
You’ll also need to increase PHP max execution time. Generally 30 seconds is enough but I’ve found to 60–90 seconds is often needed when plugins are added to WP. With the higher number of entries, you may need an even higher time limit.
After you have it working, Then I would highly suggest a caching plugin so the page only needs to be created once in awhile. That can greatly increase the page load time. Currently I’m using WP Rocket which I’m quite happy with.
Hope that helps! let me know.

GuestHey Steven,
I had the memory increased to 256 and the execution time increased to 600.
I can still import only 35 at a time. Previous to moving to Go Daddy we could import hundreds. Where to go from here?11/03/2014 at 11:06 am #308847Steven Zahm

Are we talking about showing the entries no the page or using the CSV Import extension to import entries? I’m was interpreting “loading” as to show. Now you’re saying “import”. I just want to make sure we’re on the same page.

Ok, my next question, which version of CSV Import do you have installed? The only issues I’ve encountered to date since version 1.1 (current is 1.2) was released on 06/12/2014 has been malformed CSV files.
Is it only the same 35 that import or you can only import in groups of 35?

Well, that does explain it, you should update the CSV Import extension. Old versions of CSV Import used a form to import the entries. Newer versions of PHP limit the number of form fields that can be submitted at one time. I think the default is 1000 and anything above that 1000 is discarded. PHP implemented this as a security measure. Now I bet you might be thinking but I can only import 35, not 1000. Well, each entry requires n-number of form fields. That n-number really depends on what is being imported for each entry. In your case it is taking roughly 28 form fields per entry.
So that is very likely the reason you can now only import 35 at a time. Your switch to GoDaddy landed you with a more up to date PHP version which has more secure defaults.
The solution, as I said, is to update the CSV Import extension. The current version is 1.2 and it was version 1.0 that completely changed the way import works so the number of form fields do not matter because they are not used.
I can not find any purchase under the email you’ve been using to post to the forum so you must have made the purchases under a different email address. Anyway if you can locate your purchase email you can use that to reset your user account and gain access to the updates in your purchase history. If you no longer have access to that email account, that’s alright, I can transfer the purchases to your current email, you just need to let me know the old email address.
Hope that helps!

GuestHey Steve,
Your plug-in was aquired by my old developer. Due to their poor performance and the fact that my website along with about 12 others got hacked while on their server, I moved to a new developer. The old developer refused to assist us in any way and has threatened to have me arrested if I ever contact them again. Considering the aforementioned I cannot give you that email address (they used numerous addresses). I don’t mind compensating for your assistance at all. Please tell me what I owe you and how to pay you.
Thanks,
