GuestHello, thank you in advance for your assistance. Our website uses a highly customized version of Connections (www.rplaw.com). When we updated the WordPress core to 4.0, the visual tab in the editor disappeared. We are running Connections 0.8, because we don’t want to have to update Connections and re-customize everything for every WP update.
The text tab does show all the icons for formatting, just not the visual tab. We tried this (provided by you a couple months ago): but it didn’t seem to have any affect on the site at all: https://github.com/Connections-Business-Directory/Connections/commit/62211514fff6aeb3b7e6505820f7f1006e022524
Many thanks for your help.

WordPress 3.9, I think it was, had a major update to the visual editor called TinyMCE which Connections uses. This required updates to the code in Connections, actually many plugins broke and required updates, not just Connections.
Are you sure you’re running Connections 0.8 … when I look at the page source, it says 8.1.2.
Either way the change was made in version 0.7.9.6 to be compatible with WordPress 3.9 so you should already have the requirted fix. Could you verify the version you’re running?

GuestYou are correct, we are running Connections 8.1.2. My programmer is saying we need to update the WP theme from twenty eleven to twenty fourteen and everything will be compatible and work correctly. I’m not sure this is the best fix. Your thoughts?

I would say updating the theme will not have an affect (at least extremely unlikely) on the visual editor being loaded or not in Connections.
Not knowing what changes were made to Connections … it could be one of the changes that were made or it could be simply another plugin breaking the visual editor and Connections is just a causality.
If you give me a temp admin account, I’ll login in real quick to see if I can point you in a direction to get it working again.

Guestwhen WP updates, the Visual tab goes missing, and the main People where the Connections data pulls through breaks. So we reverted back to 4.0. Something about Connections and WordPress working together isn’t working well. I don’t think that’s the WP theme, though.

Ok, now I’m confused … WordPress 4 is the latest, more specifically 4.0.1, which is what is installed on your site. What are you reverting back from??? WordPress 4.1 hasn’t been released yet.
