ParticipantIs it possible to translate category names? I’m building a bilingual website and I would like categories to show up in their respective language when people navigate. I use WPML to manage translation strings.

Currently I’m not really familiar with WPML … but, I think, you can use the WPML tags within the category name field when adding/editing an entry. So when the page is output, WPML will output the correct translation.

ParticipantI’m waiting from WPML to see how they can work that around with your plugin. I’ll keep you posted.
Maybe you could have a look at their string translation to give me some more advice? I think you would benefit that feature because I’m quite sure your present and future users would appreciate to be able to build multilingual websites with your system.

The WPML team has contacted me and I’ve read thru some of their documentation. Seems to me Connections is already roughly 98% compatible. As for translating category names. Can you not use the same method you use for the WordPress category names?

ParticipantUnfortunately, I don’t see the language module in Connections like I see it in post categories, for example. Is that what you meant?

Yes. I guess I’ll learn more about that as I deal with full WPML support. They have gotten back to me yet. I submitted my request for a free copy so I can test.

No, the WPML team has not gotten back to me yet. I wouldn’t expect resolution for many months.
