ParticipantHi I have installed all needed plugins (which is about everything in my case) so I can create a directory of Icelandic women in the film and television business. I have translated everything I could (and tried more), and I have been a tour over to transifex.com to register as helper for the Icelandic version, but I get no answers and I am not accepted to the group there. So there fore I write to you here and hope that you can help. I really need to translate everything which appears for the user, and it is a little silly to have something in Icelandic and other in English. I have been through the plugins language files and created po and mo files, I have created all the other files found and put in the general language folder, as described in one of the threads in here…so pls. can you help. I am sure that there will be others which can use the Icelandic version :) thank you so much – Marianna

Please do not message using Transifex. I only use it to manage translations, not for support. Thanks for you help!
I just now approved you request to join the Icelandic translation team. You will not have access to start helping in translation Connections.
I’ll include your translations in updates. You do not have to wait for me to release an update to have the translation working on your site. Here’s a link to a FAQ which explains how:
http://connections-pro.com/faqs/ive-added-or-updated-a-translation-do-i-have-to-wait-for-an-update/
This will only translate the strings in the “core” Connections plugin. The extensions and templates will have to be translated separately. This is not a bug or limitation in Connections this is due to how WordPress manages translations.
In each extension and template plugins folder you will find a
languages
folder. Within that folder you will find thePOT
file. You can load thatPOT
file into an application called POedit. In POedit you can create your translated and save them and the required mo/po files.re: I am sure that there will be others which can use the Icelandic version :) thank you so much
If you send me you translation, I can make sure they are included in updates so all can benefit. I appreciate any time you spend to do the translation work!
Let me know if you need any further help.

GuestHi thank you so much. I have downloaded the pot file and are working on the 1038 strings. I will send you the .po and .mo files when they are ready. I had already tried the language folders for each plugin and had produced .po and .mo files for both link and forum, but that didn’t work. So I will see what the core will do to start with. You will hear from me shortly. So long in the meantime.

They should. Those two extension already have translations for other languages which are known to work. Double check your naming of the MO file to ensure it is correct.

ParticipantHi Steven I have translated and saved to the plugin language folder f.i. links and forms as you can see in the attached files. And really taken care of the naming and everything. I have translated plugins before, but as I recall usually a translation is only in one place, here you have to find it everywhere :)

“Everywhere“… Actually not everywhere, each addon for Connections is its own plugin which requires its own translation files. Unfortunately this is how it works. This is not limited to Connections. Take for example WooCommerce, a very, very, popular plugin with many, many addons. Each addon requires it own translation.
Any way back to your issue…
The file naming looks correct so the translation should work just fine. Could you attach your PO file file so I can take a look? To attach the you will have to rename
.po
to.txt

ParticipantHi Steven and thank you for all your help. I have attached the po (txt) file for form.
I have finished translating the whole system into Icelandic how would you like to receive the files? And how long will it take until it is a part of the updates?
thank you so much

The po file for Form you attached was not structured correctly. It took quite a bit of time but I manage to structure it correctly so it could be properly updated and compiled to a MO file.
The primary issue was that the translated string were saved to the
msgctxt
attribute. They should have been saved to themsgstr
attribute instead. Themsgctxt
attribute is used for the string context and themsgstr
is used for the translated string.I’ve attached the updated file so you can use it.
Thanks for the time to translating.
As for the update, that is unknown at this time. What I can do is send you a zip which contains both the MO/PO files which you can unzip into the Form
languages
folder so you do not have to wait for the update. Will that work fr you?Attachments:

Participantwell to start with I send you the icelandic files here zipped.
I don’t know what has happened with the connections_form file, I have used POedit to work on them, and the same with the files in the zipfolder. Hope they are not corrupted.
thank you so much

The files in the zip file looks perfect. I’ve imported the PO file into Transifex without issue.
