ParticipantHi Steve,
I have a situation wherein I am getting slashes inserted into my hyperlinks. so i enter a href=”http://example.com”>Watch this. It then turns into a href=\\http://example.com\\”>Watch this. I have researched this and it is old PHP that was supposedly deprecated in PHP 5.3. I am curious if this has been deprecated from Connections Directory. It only happens in the Connections database. We can use the escape slash routine, but I would rather find out if this is an ongoing issue. I had to recently reinstall the directory and this problem reoccurred (it had happened before and we had corrected the problem with escape\ sequence. Let me know the best way to sort this out. Thanks.

ParticipantHi again. Thought I would provide you some perspective. Here is a link that sort of explains the problem I am having. It has to do with quotation marks. They are being stripped in connections with slashes inserted in their stead. Here you go:
Thanks,
Tim

ParticipantBTW – This is only happening in the Connections plugin on my site. I have several others and do not experience the problem. It is an old bug in PHP and apparently is common.
Thanks,
Tim

Quick question … where are you inserting hyperlinks where this becomes an issue? That’ll help me narrow where to look. Screen captures of before and after inserting would be handy too as well as one of your fix. I use WP functions for sanitation so I’m not exactly sure why you would be experiencing this.
I’m prepping another minor bug fix for release, I can hold hold off and get this addressed too.

Ok, I see it is happening in the notes and bio fields… let me see if I can duplicate the issue…
btw… how’d you add those custom fields?

Yeah, I see, be very careful not to click that update link for Connections otherwise bad things happen. If interest, Connections > 0.8 now supports custom fields…
