GuestHi,
Firstly, my apologies for most likely asking questions that have already been covered in various other posts, I just thought it would be simpler to lay out all of what I’m looking to achieve to get an opinion on whether connections is going to be the right solution for me.
At it’s simplest I need to create a directory which will be accessible via a section/page of WordPress site. The directory would need to be only accessible/viewable to registered members and should allow members to edit/amend their own entries. An option for different directory content based on membership level assigned would be useful, but not essential.
The process as I see it working would be:
1)New member registration, held for admin approval. I’m aware that this would need to be handled via a Registration plugin of some sort.
2)On approval member receives email notification with link directing them to login and create their directory entry.
3)Following login and entry creation member is able to view directory.
From a security/access to content point of view would another plugin be required to handle the access or is the registration and directory entry creation sufficient to mean that the directory content would not be available unless you were logged in?
Many thanks for any help/advise you can offer.
Kris

My apologies for my delayed response! Actually, I could have sworn I answered days ago. I realize you may have moved on by now but regardless I’ll answer your questions the best I can…
Basically, yes, it does seem Connections would meet your requirements when pair with its Link extension. It does not yet have the ability to limit based on role, but you stated that was not essential.
So, you would use another plugin to handle user registration/verification and such. There are many useful membership plugins out there than handle this quite well.I do not know for certain, but I imagine they would have email notifications in which you could give instructions on adding their entry into Connections using Link. Those same plugin do usually handle user login redirect. You could set that up so they are redirected to the Connections Link admin profile page.
As for the directory being visible to only registered users, there is a setting within Connections on its Settings admin page under the General tab which you can enable the require login feature. That will ensure only verified registered users can view the directory.
I hope that helps!
