Hi there,So I’m wondering this about the plugin…My client would like to take one contact, say the “HR Department” and put this phone number onto multiple areas of the website. Their website has over 100 pages. So, in the event the phone number changes or the contact person changes, they would love to use your plugin to go the the contact, and update it one time, and then this then updates across the whole website.I’m wondering if there are shortcodes for the contacts in the database, so that one contact may be displayed in my places at once, but needs to be edited in only one place, one time, for all the updates to be seen everywhere. And if this is not possible, the client would like to know what they could pay you to modify such a tool being made possible through the plugin.Thank you!–Joel HickenbottomEngage01/26/2013 at 1:23 pm #249894

I think Connections will meet your requirements. Here’s a link to the doc page on how you can use the shortcode to show a specific entry:
Any time an entry is edited, in Connections, every place the entry is shown will show the revised info automatically.
I hope that helps.01/30/2013 at 2:25 pm #250333Joel HickenbottomGuest
That’s amazing! Thanks for following up!
So is this built directly into the plugin or will it require us purchase an add-on?01/30/2013 at 10:13 pm #250416
@ Joel Hickenbottom
It’s built-in, so give it try to see if it does meet your needs.02/05/2013 at 12:48 pm #250791Joel HickenbottomGuest
So we installed the plugin. I’m just trying to figure out if there is a way to only show the phone numbers rather than the Connections Template, in the square format. Is it possible to only show the number for the directory listing?

There is not a built-in template to do this, but I do think this would be a good template to include with the core plugin. I’ve added it to my feature request list. I will likely add it to the next feature release.02/12/2013 at 12:14 pm #251276Kevin FreeGuest
How much would it cost to create a custom plugin? It could be built on the Slim template that I have. I am looking for something similar to the example you gave me before http://lisaschwarz.com/brainspotting-directory/ with no image holders. My goal is to have a drop down for categories of Family and Business. I would like to have email request for changes to the directory. I would, if possible, have a search option. The other item that is critical is have this directory pass protect with user name and password. These are things that I could probably accomplish on my own, but I need this done in a timely fashion, and I have a lot on my plate right now. Is this something you could do, or could you point me to someone who could? Thank you for your support…I think you have a great plugin. I just need to use it properly.02/17/2013 at 10:18 am #251645
@ Kevin Free
A version of Slim will be released, likely next month, that will include a category drop down. You’ll be able to use CSS to hide the image placeholder if you don’t want it.
You can already password protect the directory. The option is on the Connections : Settings admin page under the General tab.
You can use WordPress users to manage the user name password and then use Link to allow users to maintain their entry rather than have email requests sent.
Hope that helps.02/21/2013 at 9:43 am #251927Theo CookeGuest
I have the free version, and intend on buying the pro-version. However, I am developing my site locally using MAMP and connections seems to cause server errors when installed. It works on my live dummy site however. I tried changing all the permissions to 777 locally, but this still didn’t work. Is there a plugin conflict I should know about? Or something else?
Thanks very much. Any help is appreciated

@ Theo Cooke
I do have a couple reported cases where Connections has trouble on MAMP, but I do not have a Mac so I can really debug why it doesn’t work. This is odd because on production servers it runs fine. So that tells me it is definitely a server config issue, but I could not tell you where to look or what to change, sorry!
Maybe you could try this this version [pre-lease to an update comeing this weekend]:
It has an updated script library for image processing and removes a couple deprecated PHP functions among many other changes.
