ParticipantHey Steven, this problem has been coming back up. I just created a test account myself added a biz. directory entry and saved it, everything looked fine. I then came back made an edit and it duplicated the entries. I then deleted the duped entries and saved, and it did it again, this time multiplying the duped entries by a factor of one. Every time I edit, even delete the dupes, they are duplicated by a factor of one. You can’t even delete any entries they just keep getting duplicated, adding to them every time. Very frustrating. I appreciate your help with this. Last time you me you had a saved userid. if you need me to provide that again I will be glad to do so. Your username is ‘connections’ and the email tied to it is: xxxxx

Did you try resetting the role capabilities like I mentioned in this reply. If not, go to the Connections : Roles admin page, add a check beside “Reset All Role Capabilities” and click Update button. If that fixes it again, then something keeps deleting a core capability that Connections requires.

ParticipantSteve, yes I just now tried resetting the role capabilities. I reset then selected the roles again because it removed all our role settings. I then went to check one of our member directory profiles and his entries are still duplicated. The member you can use to test is Wayne Robbins. Thank you for your help with this.

Yes, the entries would still have the duplicated data because that is saved to the database already. Resetting the roles capabilities can not remove data saved to entries.
If this fixes it like it did last time, editing entry will no longer produce duplicates. Please give it a try. If that fixes it up, I suggest trying to figure out which plugin is not-so-helpfully altering capabilities that do no belong to it. Seeing as this is very intermittent for you, that could prove to be extremely challenging.

ParticipantThanks Steve. I believe I have better understanding now. I will give it a try and see if this hasn’t fixed it. Thanks again!

GuestJust a quick note to say how much I appreciate this thread! We experienced the same problems when we launched our directory yesterday. It’s interesting to note the duplication did not occur in our testing.
The duplication appears to occur when an imported record is edited. Which, of course, is 99.9% of the entries. When a new test S2Member was created this did not occur.

Did you try resetting the role capabilities like I mentioned in this reply and the readding the capabilites after the role reset?

Keep in mind, any entry saved with duplicated data will still have it because it has already been saved to the db.
