ParticipantWe are having a problem with entries fields being duplicated in display. There is only one address entered but two are being displayed. Same with phone number. I just updated everything, maybe that has something to do with it?

What version did you upgrade from? If you edit an entry and do nothing but click update, does the duplicate address disappear?

ParticipantI’m not sure which version we upgraded from, but we’ve been fairly consistent with updates. I did notice that clicking update remove all of the multiple entries (I did this last night, which removed about half a dozen duplicates) but some action seems to restart the duplicating process as this morning there was a single duplicate of the address and phone. I’ll have to check with the member to see what exactly he may have done to cause the duplicates to return. In the mean time I have clicked update and removed them.
Do you know what could cause them to return like that?

The only time that I can think of that this might occur is during one of the db update routines but I think it’s been well over a year since there was a db update even still it would only occur once.
Is it a possibility that this occurred that long ago and it is only now being noticed? Actually now that I think about it a little more, you would only see dupes when editing an entry, not displaying it if that update db routine failed.
Since updating fixes the issue, that tells me that the actually data in the db is fine and that somehow the cached data that actually is used for display somehow got out of whack.
If you can isolate the steps that are taken in which this occurs, that will help me figure out what the issue might be.

ParticipantSteve, this problem has crept back up again. For the life of me I can’t remember how it was resolved last time. In any case, we have a member who just added a new directory listing and the system created a bunch of copies of his address.
See here: http://www.njlpia.org/locate-an-investigator/?cn-s=adams&cn-cat=
Not sure what is causing this. Please help me troubleshoot this problem. I will gladly give you admin access via email, but if you happen to have the old one I gave you it should still work for you.Thank you,

I logged in to see if I could duplicate it. It seems every time a user edits their directory entry or even just hit the update button it causes a duplicate. I’ve never seen this and is definitely different the the previous issue that we fixed a while back.
I’ll have to duplicate this so I can track down what is causing this bug.

ParticipantThanks Steve. Let us know if there’s anything we can do to help troubleshoot the problem.

Nothing to update yet. I have not been able to replicate this on my dev site. Could I also get an FTP account and access to phpMyAdmin? I know that’s asking for a lot, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to track down the bug. All I know right now is where this is happening but not why on your site. You can send the login details as a private reply or using the contact link at the bottom of the page.

Ok, I figured it out. It ended up not being a bug in Connections at all. Something removed the default capability for viewing public in all the roles. The solution ended up being as simple as resetting the role capabilities and then change the capability settings back to what you had set.
In my testing, this seems to have resolved the duplication issue. I’m going to mark this resolved for now, please let me know if you have any further issues with this.
