ParticipantAre there supposed to be options for the look of this template?
I only seem to have a default option with the logo ranged left and the contact information right, yet I have seen examples the other way around.
How do I remove the drop shadow from the entry?
How do I remove the farm around the ‘Select Category’ pull down menu?
Why won’t the image display on the next ‘detailed’ page, without the biographical info?12/04/2014 at 5:43 am #311695Kathy Allen

The Wollombi Valley directories use a custom template that was commission by them. One to you other questions…
re: Are there supposed to be options for the look of this template?

What examples, where? … wait, I found two in my list that has customized the template to flip them. I marked them as customized. Sorry, but it is impossible for me to keep track of what other change, but I do note them when I find them. Here’s the CSS you need to flop the left and right:
#cn-cmap .cn-left { float: right; max-width: 100%; width: auto; } #cn-cmap .cn-right { text-align: left; } #cn-list span.org { font-size: 120%; } #cn-list span.organization-unit { color: green; font-weight: bold; padding-bottom: 10px; } #cn-cmap .cn-entry-single .cn-left { float: left; max-width: 70%; width: auto; } #cn-cmap .cn-entry-single .cn-right { text-align: right; }
Add the custom CSS as explained in this QuickTip.
re: How do I remove the drop shadow from the entry?
Some more CSS will do the trick:#cn-cmap .cn-entry { -webkit-box-shadow: none; -moz-box-shadow: none; box-shadow: none; }
re: How do I remove the farm around the “Select Category” pull down menu?
“farm” … I’m thinking you meant to type something else???re: Why won’t the image display on the next “detailed” page, without the biographical info?
Sorry, but that’s just how it been designed … been like that for many years now. The only way to change that is to edit the template. You need to edit thecard.php
andcard-single.php
files found here:
../wp-content/plugins/connections-cmap/
I suggest copying them and use the method explained in this QuickTip to create a custom template override file.
Hope that answers your questions thoroughly!

First, please keep using this support thread … all the additional emails make it far more difficult to shuffle thru resulting in a much longer response time.
I’ll respond to each thru a series of replies so I can keep this straight and within this forum thread.

re: I meant frame, there seems to be a border around my select category pull down, also is there any way to make it not so wide.
This is almost 100% the faulty of the theme … it’s overriding the template. Unfortunately some theme’s are overly aggressive with their CSS declarations. I see the issue in the one screenshot you sent … I’ll need a link to the page with the issue so I can come up with CSS that will override the theme.re: How much to customise the cMap template to look like the the sample mentioned?
The Wollombi template was a custom template they had, by a third party I think, create for them. It is not the cMap template.Right now, I’m am not available to do custom template work, but he fee is generally 100 or more depending on the requested custom customizations.

Neither. I gave you the link to the instructions for a custom template CSS file in my original reply. Here it is again for your convenience:http://connections-pro.com/2014/05/07/quicktip-custom-css-templates/

*Have tried http://connections-pro.com/add-on/cmap/ but can’t figure out how to make it look like this one http://www.visitwollombi.com.au/hunter-valley-accommodation/self-contained/?cn-s=&cn-cat=26
I had it looking okay, but in my attempt at trying to get rid of the stupid drop shadow (by fiddling around with the .css file and not really knowing what I was doing), I stuffed it right up. I tried deactivating and deleting the plugin template, then reloading it from a new download, but it still looks wrong even with the original files loaded, like it’s still accessing the wrong files.*

My guess based on your previous post on asking on which CSS file you should edit that you edited one of those files. If you did, you must force refresh the browser so the updated CSS file is downloaded by the browser. The browser caches CSS and JS files locally so they do not have to be downloaded again. So if you edit a file you need to force refresh so the edited files are downloaded and used. Depending on the browser you use it is eitherCONTROL + F5
or ‘SHIFT + F5`.NOTE: even if you use a custom template CSS file and make changes, you will still need to force refresh the browser.
re: get rid of the stupid drop shadow
I gave you the CSS you needed to remove the drop shadow in my original reply. No fiddling required…12/05/2014 at 11:58 am #311817Steven Zahm

*Can you please help me, my entries look all wrong and they looked right before I messed around with the code.
I have reloaded a freshly downloaded version of cmap, but it’s just not recognising it, why is this?
The contact details are all in one line under the title and it just looks bad.
Can you please give some step-by-step (for dummies) instructions on how to fix this problem.
Also, with a custom .css, do you just duplicate the cmap.css, call it cn-cmap.css, modify it and then add it to (where)?
If you could please give me a quote for modifying the cmap template that would be great.*
re: I have reloaded a freshly downloaded version of cmap, but it’s just not recognising it, why is this?
Like due to browser caching. See this reply from me.re: Can you please give some step-by-step (for dummies) instructions on how to fix this problem.
Sure …
- Deactivate cMap.
- Delete cMap.
- Reinstall cMap.
- Activate cMap.
- Verify cMap is still the active template on the Connections : Templates admin page.
- Visit the page where you inserted the
[connections]
shortcode. - cMap should be the template being used to display the directory.
- Force refresh the browser by hitting
CTRL + F5
orSHIFT + F5
. Which one will depend on the browser you are using. Just do both… - You should now be back at the beginning, assuming that you never did create the custom template CSS file. If you did, delete it.

See my reply here.re: If you could please give me a quote for modifying the cmap template that would be great.
As mentioned in this reply, I am not available for custom template work at this time. -
