ParticipantI have WP V 3.5.1. I have installed Connections Version 0.7.6.6 and am able to use it as designed.
I purchased the following to expand functionality:
* Slim Plus – slim-plus.zip
* Form – connections-form.zip
* ROT13 Email Encryption – connections-rot13.zip
* Widget Pack – connections-widgets.zipWithin my WP admin site, I navigated to Connections >> Templates. There I navigated to bottom of page to “Install Legacy Template” and selected my zip file and uploaded slim-plus.zip file, after which I received the message: “Success: A new template has been installed.” However the Slim-Plus template is not listed on the page.
I then tried unzipping the file and uploading manually via ftp. I have all the contents in a “slim-plus” folder located at ../wp-content/connections_templates/slim-plus/ Still the template is not visible within my blog admin site.
Permissions for the ../wp-content/connections_templates/ folder is set as 777.
=====Next I tried uploading my add-ons as normal plugins.
When I attempt to upload the connections-form.zip file, I get a response that reads:
“Unpacking the package…
“Could not copy file. /httpdocs/wp-content/upgrade/connections-widgets3/connections-widgets/connections_widgets.php”
Permissions for the httpdocs/wp-content/upgrade/ folder is set as 777.
Can you assist please?
Thank you,
Enrique

I recommend against setting any folder permission to 777. I would use 755 and only if needed use 767.
You would not use the legacy template installer for your template. Please follow the template installation instructions on this page. The short version is that you should install and activate the template as a plugin, it will then show up on the Connections : Templates admin page. You would not use the /connections_templates/ folder because that is only to support legacy templates.
As for the installation issues with the plugins, it seems somehow that WordPress is thoroughly confused and has left files laying around from past install attempts.
My suggestion, it should be safe to completely empty the /wp-content/upgrade/ folder. However, make a backup of the files within and then delete everything and try installing again.

ParticipantI changed all folder permissions to 767 and now it operates as expected.
In the directory I’ve uploaded images. Images previously displayed. Now I get a spinning dial indicating that they have not loaded. I’ll look elsewhere in forum for that answer.
Thank you for your timely help.

The spinning could mean there is an error in the theme’s javascript or an error in another plugin. I will only be able to tell if is you can share a link to your directory. What you can do is load your site in Chrome, hit the F12 key and click the console tab. Any javascript errors will be shown here. This should help to identify the problem plugin.
Hope that helps. Please let me know.

The Plugin that is causing an error is JQuery Accordion Menu Widget, I would deactivate that.
I would also change the permissions of the following folder to 767:
../wp-content/connection_imageAnd put a blank index.html file in it.
That should fix up the issues.

Guest* Deactivate JQuery Accordion Menu Widget – Done
* Permission set to “767” at ../wp-content/connection_images/ – Done. Was already set to this.
* Add index.html to folder ../wp-content/connection_images/ – Done. Now index.html and index.php exist in that folder.
* Cache cleared from browser.
There is no change in the page. Listings still do not collapse. Images still missing.
Viewing Console in Chrome browser, we see:
X Uncaught TypeError: Object [object Object] has no method ‘on’ visual-form-builder-validate.js:1
X Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 400 (Bad Request) http://www.firstpresmanhattan.com/wp-content/plugins/connections/includes/t…an.com/wp-content/connection_images/IMAG0767_original.jpg&h=120&w=100&zc=2

Sorry, I was telling you to put the blank index.html page in the wrong folder. It should be this:
../wp-content/plugins/connections/cache/Wait … Ok, I just checked. The file Connections load in that folder is in place like it should be. What is the permissions on that folder? Try 767 as well.
Now it seems there is another javascript error. That one was not there when I last checked. This time it is with the plugin Visual Form Builder Pro. I’m not familiar with that plugin but it does seem very well supported. You might want to ping them for help on that error. But for now, can you temporarily deactivate it?
I hope you understand the javascript in other plugins is not the fault of Connections. Those errors will/are actually causing other plugins to fail too. the results just are not as visible.

Guestindex.html is already in folder ../wp-content/plugins/connections/cache/
That folder is already permission 767.
I’ve turned off Visual Form Builder Pro. Now accordion feature appears.. though now that breaks all the pages that has the web form…
Image still does not appear. I’ve uploaded the image egtors3.gif which is 12KB and 110×144 px in size.
I later tried .jpg file format with same result.
Chrome browser now says:
GET http://www.firstpresmanhattan.com/wp-content/plugins/connections/includes/t…n.com/wp-content/connection_images/tameraJPG_original.jpg&h=120&w=100&zc=2 400 (Bad Request)
The error above seems to repeat the folder structure, meaning that I see /wp-content/ twice in the query above. I don’t know if that is normal or not.
In looking at my folders, I see the contact image is uploaded to the following folder:
../wp-content/connection_images/
Is this the correct folder that it should reside?
Next suggestion to fix?
