ParticipantHello,
I have built a small test directory on a site and then cloned that site. On the newly cloned site, I went to manage on my connections menu and then deleted all entries. I then uploaded a completed new csv with different entries.
Once completed, I checked the site on my mobile device and the old entries are still a appearing. If I search for one of the new entries, I can find it, but they are not listed.
Is there another step I should take to delete entries, in order to start fresh with a completed new csv file? Thanks!

Sounds like you are running a either page cache plugin or server side cache. Try clearing the cache.
Let me know if that helps.

ParticipantLooks like that worked!
Another question for you…
Using the form nd link extension, can I make a page where residents can add their profile on a mobile device? I have inserted the link but it only showed up on my desktop. Just to clarify, the goal is to let people edit their profiles or create a new one, on a mobile device.
Preferably, I would like to create a more distinct button or icon for them to click, rather than the blue link, if that’s possible, thanks

Well, Connections does not distinguish between desktop/mobile … meaning, the same content, links included, are server just the same. So, if you are not seeing it on the mobile device, there is another issue. Are you doing anything “special” for mobile or are you simply using a responsive theme? If you are simply using a responsive theme, then it still could be caching … perhaps the “old” version of the page is still being served.
If that is not it, what shortcode are you using, specifically? Are you viewing the page as a regular user vs the admin? If you are viewing as the user, have the Connections : Roles capabilities been setup so the user can add/edit entries?

You can likely use CSS to change the link into a button.

ParticipantThanks! When using the form extension, in order for members to input their information into the directory, will it only ask for the information that we want or for other information?
For example, if we use the say what plug in to change get the strings to first phone, send phone and third phone will the form extension ask for those as well?
If we change biographical information to hobbies, will it ask for hobbies?
I imagine the answer is yes, of course, but wanted to make sure, thanks!

Yes, most of the strings will come from the core Connections plugin for the Form fields. There are Form only string though. You can still use Say What? to change them you would just use
connections_formform the text domain instead.Hope that answers your question.

ParticipantI am going to try and ask this question again to clarify my understanding.
My goal is to have a member submit information and create their directory profile.
I would like for them to only have the option to enter the information that I would like to collect, in to eliminate any confusion by requesting fields of information that are not relevant to our directory.
Most of the fields of information that I would like to collect are fields which I have changed the name using the “say what” plug- in.
Is there a way to ensure that a member who goes to submit their information will only be entering the information that I would like to collect and it will be according to the strings that I have designated using the “say what” plug in? Thanks

The only details “required” by Form are the first and last name because that is the absolute minimum info needed for the entry to be saved into the database properly. No other info can be required. Not that you asked this specifically, but seemed worth mentioning since it is related.
re: Is there a way to ensure that a member who goes to submit their information will only be entering the information that I would like to collect and it will be according to the strings that I have designated using the “say what” plug in?
The Say What? plugin only allows you to change strings in Connections it does not have any ability to limit what the user submits.
One easy thing you can do is navigate to the Connections : Settings admin page and click the Form tab. On that settings page you can control the fieldsets and their order to be displayed.
A bit more difficult… if there are address types, for example, that you wish the user not be able to submit those can be removed similarly how new address types can be added. If that is what you are asking… I can quickly craft the code snippets for you to apply to your site.
Hope this helps!

ParticipantThanks! One more quick question..
On my category drop down menu, that label “Select catagory” is coming up blank. I have been into the template customizer and the field that requires me to input the label that I would that to say is populated.
Is there another place where I may have wrongfully unclicked a box or changed a setting to make that appear blank? Thanks

Can you share a link to the page with the issue?
I suspect a javascript error being caused by another plugin or theme. YOu can do a quick check. Open the page in Chrome, hit the F12 key and then click the Console tab.
All rendering errors will be listed here, including javascript errors. Look for any that say something about being undefined. Hover over the file name to the fat right of the listed error. That file path will usually reveal theme or plugin and which one.
Hoe this helps!
