ParticipantUsing cMap, when adding a new person to our directory, I can add the address information just as expected; also, when I update and then view the directory page, I can see that all information is displayed correctly.
However, if I edit any individual’s information in the directory, on the Edit page, all information is displayed EXCEPT for the address info. If I click the update button and then view the page, the address information for that individual no longer appears – it has been deleted. This is a problem for us because we have a large directory and we occasionally need to make updates to people’s directory information.
Please advise. We are using cMap version 4.1. Thank you!

I read this a few times… Can you clarify something for me? It is not that the address info is deleted from the entry it is that the address simply does not display, correct?

ParticipantThat’s a good question. The short answer is, the address data is actually deleted, as best as I can tell.
To test this, I have logged into phpMyAdmin to look at the database. I have selected one individual to test. I can see that in the wp_connections table, under the addresses field, her address information is displayed as seen below:
a:1:{i:971262657278;a:14:{s:4:”type”;s:4:”work”;s:10:”visibility”;s:6:”public”;s:6:”line_1″;s:16:”9595 Nelson Road”;s:6:”line_2″;s:5:”Box B”;s:6:”line_3″;s:0:””;s:4:”city”;s:8:”Longmont”;s:5:”state”;s:2:”CO”;s:7:”zipcode”;s:10:”80501-6359″;s:7:”country”;s:13:”United States”;s:8:”latitude”;d:40.173327700000002;s:9:”longitude”;d:-105.1142011;s:2:”id”;N;s:9:”preferred”;b:0;s:5:”order”;i:0;}}
When I go into the Connections/cMap interface and I go into editing mode for this individual, her address info is not displayed on the editing page. When I click on the Update button, I can see that the address info is now gone when I view the web page, and when I refresh the table through phpMyAdmin, I see that the addresses field is now blank for this individual. This is what makes me think that the data is actually deleted.
Thank you!

Participant@Steven, it’s interesting, I also see a wp_connections_address table in the database but there is no data contained within it. It appears that all address data is stored under wp_connections under the addresses field.

Can you try something for me? Go to the Connections Roles admin page click the “Reset All Role Capabilities” option on the right and click the Update button. Does that fix the issue?
If that does not, try what is suggested in this FAQ.
Let me know how it goes!

Participant@Steven, I tried what you have suggested with resetting the role capabilities but that did not fix the issue.
We are about one week into having released a very large WordPress Multisite website for our organization. I read the FAQ and it seems that you are wanting for me to install the s2Member plugin, and possibly also the Code Snippets plugin. I’m a bit concerned about installing any plugins that could potentially cause issues our new website. Do you have experience with these plugins solving this issue?
Thank you!

I’m not asking you to install the s2Member plugin (I actually recommend against it unless you need it), only the Code Snippets plugin which is harmless and very useful. Please try the suggestion in the FAQ and let me know if it resolves the issue. Thanks.

Participant@Steven, I installed the code snippet plugin and added the new snippet as suggested in your FAQ. No luck. It occurred to me though that maybe the issue is that both Connections and cMap are enabled globally through Multisite. I thought that I would disable both plugins at the global level and then re-enable them locally on the parent website to see if this solves the issue. Do you know if I disable the plugin, will I loose my data?
Thank you!

re: It occurred to me though that maybe the issue is that both Connections and cMap are enabled globally through Multisite.
That definitely could be the issues as Connections is not compatible (fully) with global activations on multisite.
re: Do you know if I disable the plugin, will I loose my data?
Will you lose your data? No. What I can not tell you is if you’ll have access to it or not you might have to rename the tables to align with the site Connections is actually activated on. Also, maybe, move the images to the correct folder.
That said… You did say parent site… so if you activated and added the data on the parent site, it should be fine. Even if you have to rename tables and move files, that should only take a few minutes.
Hope that helps!

GuestHi Steven,
Sorry for the delay, I’ve had other pressing issues. Now I’m back to working on our directory. I have deactivated both the Connections and cMap plugins from the global level in Multisite and have activated them both under our website.
The good part is that all of the data is still there and things are working exactly as they did before (which means that nothing broke!).
The bad part is that… well, things are working exactly as before… meaning that if I go in and edit someone’s directory information, the address area is minimized (the view is not expanded), and if I click the Update button, all of the address information for that person is lost.
Is anyone else having this issue? I’m not sure how we could be using Connections and cMap all that differently from others.
Thank you!
