No, it changes it everywhere the string is used within Connections. If the template has a shortcode option, it will override any changes made by Say What? OR the shortcode option exists because it is a string is template specific and is needed because Say What would have no effect.

No, you can simply use Say What? in this case. You only need to use the shortcode in this instance if you want to override the default template text or override the custom string applied Say What? (if one was added).

Sorry, no. This feature will not be added to Connections. And it is not at all standard for a plugin to make all its strings as settings. That would make plugin very bloated and slow.

Ideally if you want labels and such in your preferred language, you would translate those strings in Transifex or do it locally using Poedit. That is the standard method for WordPress, theme and plugins for internationalization and localization.

Templates have shortcode options for their strings because there are strings that are template specific which can not be translated as part of Connections because they are a separate plugin. Adding template and extension specific strings to Connections would only serve to bloat the core Connections plugin. That said… templates some of the templates have been converted to be translation ready so Say What? can be used as well as translation via Poedit. The shortcodes for the template that have been converted are still in place to provide backwards compatibility and still allow the option to change the labels to something other than what was tranlated.

The cMap and Market templates are the only template that are designed to display both. Slim Plus would have to be altered and CSS added to support displaying a logo.

Sorry, no, there is not a point and click way to add custom fields at this time. Currently this requires a dev to create an extension that will add the required custom fields.

Sounds like you need to give those custom roles permission. Go to the Connections : Roles admin page and add permissions for add/edit and/or add/edit moderated.

That should do it.

If you want to change the label on both the frontend and admin, then using Say What is the better option. The trick is you must use the English as the original string, not the translated string. Counterintuitive I know, but there’s nothing I can do about that, it is just how it works.

So what you would have to do it is switch WordPress back to English, copy the original English strings, use Say What? to change them and then switch back to your preferred language in WordPress.

Now, the absolute best option, is to correct the strings in Transifex. When they are fixed there, they will be included in all updates. Read more here:

Using the template shortcode option will override the settings.

That said… remove that option from the shortcode.

Go to the Connections : Templates admin page and active the Names template under the All template type.

Now click the Individual template type (link upper left) and activate the desired template. Do the same for the Organization template type.

Lastly, go to the Connections : Settings admin page and click the Display tab and enable the Single Entry Template option.

That’ll do the trick.
