ParticipantHi Steven,
Last weekend our old VPS was migrated to a new one with the latest software on it (NGINX, MariaDB). Everything worked fine and I finally got rid of the issue I had earlier on which you helped me (http://connections-pro.com/support/topic/cannot-restore/).
The site finally also has HTTPS and SSL. For some strange reason the webshots are not shown anymore. I’ve waited a couple of days, hoping they would be recreated, but alas nothing.
I’ve gone through all the settings but could not find anything that could cause the issue (URL’s with HTTP and not HTTPS).
Could really use your help: https://mainecoon.nl/catteries
If you need access to the VPS/PHPMyAdmin/Wordpress, please let me know.
Thanks in advance!
P.S. I goto your website from time to time to see if the Map addon is ready yet. You have one very happy customer who’s eagerly waiting for that extension of your product :)

It seems the service (a free service provided to you by WordPress) that creates the thumbnails, it’s SSL cert is invalid so the images are being blocked by the browser. See for yourself, open the page in Chrome, hit the F12 key and then click the Console tab. Since this is an issue with the service provider, there not anything I can really do about and since this is free service, there is not even support that I can report the issue to.
I looked at some other commercial providers, it seems most do not to serve thumbs over SSL eother. At least one could, that would require redoing SiteShot to use that service and you would have register with that service and pay a monthly fee to them for providing you the service.
The only other options I can think of is not serving that one page over SSL on your site or manually creating your own thumbs.
As for the map extension, that is being worked on quite heavily every day. Here’s a forum thread that has a lot of the gory details :)

ParticipantHi Steven,
Many thanks for your fast reply! I was so happy finally with moving and upgrading my VPS and even having it more secure. It cannot be helped then.
Did some Googling and it seems I can disable https via .htaccess. Will experiment on that.
Your map extension looks AWSOME! Will wait eagerly for the release :)
Cheers, Axel

You could use a plugin like WP HTTPS to keep all you pages except the direct page on SSL so you can keep SiteShot and serve most your site over SSL.
You would first reconfigure the site to server over plain http, the you would use the plugin to selectively choose which pages/posts to serve over SSL. It’s a little more work overall but provide you with a bit of flexibility.
Hope that helps!

btw… Maine Coons are my favorite cat! If I didn’t already have a dog (I was out voted) I’d have one of those.

Participant@ Steven,
I Googled on the subject that you can enforce HTTPS in .htaccess. So I checked if this was enforced on VPS in .htaccess. Couldn’t find it so tried loading the site by fully typing the URL http://mainecoon.nlDon’t ask me why but somehow the webshots are loaded now. I don’t see any errors in the console. The webshots are all updated. Will check from time to time if this is still working. Sometimes one has to be grateful it just works ;)
I will still install the addon and give it a spin :) Curious how it works ;)
The forum on https://mainecoon.nl/forum is blazingly fast on just 2 core, 2 Gb memory and SSD. Not too happy yet with the WordPress speed. It is not bad, but it should be faster. More stuff to do ;)
My wife brought along a bunch of Maine Coons ;) (I was given no choice :P )
The website is her domain. I’m the muppet behind the screens doing the techy stuff with limited knowledge ;)Thanks again! Highly appreciated! Will await very eagerly your Map extension!
