    On our site we want to have a “Recommended List.” The List consists of Categories, e.g., editors, illustrators, etc. Each Listing consists of:

    1) Person’s name,
    2) Title,
    3) Brief description,
    4) Rates (the Vendor charges),
    5) Star rating,
    6) Contact info, and
    7) User Comments.

    I would also like to make it possible for the Vendor to have access to his listing only to make changes. Finally, I want to protect that page from spam.

    Looking over your requirements, I do not think Connections is a solution as there is not way no user comments and ratings. You could use the bio for the brief description and notes for the vendor rates. Link will be released soon which would allow the user to maintain their entry.
