ParticipantDear Steven,
Some of the entries in my directory will be selling their stuff via a woocommerce-shop on my site. I have added a add-on for Woocommerce to make it a marketplace: http://wc-marketplace.com/
This creates 3 new roles: Vendor, Pending Vendor and rejected Vendor.
In Connections -> Roles I can see the different roles. After checking what they can do and pressing Update, it stays blank. For the Vendor it means that they cannot edit their entry. What to do ?04/06/2016 at 9:56 am #371834Steven Zahm

I am very aware of WooCommerce but I have never used it or that addon. There could be a couple reasons. The roles are dynamically added and do not really exist (bbPress does this) in a way that can be altered. Or maybe the role capabilities are reset on each page load.
I have a suggestion to try.
Install the Members plugins, which is a fantastic user, role, and capability management plugin.
Use this plugin and try to add the Connections capabilities to the Vendor role. If the settings do not “stick” then the issue is with the other plugin. If they do “stick” then there is likely a plugin conflict or theme conflict which is preventing Connections from saving its settings.
Let me know what you find out.

ParticipantHello Steven, Thanks for the reply.
I did what you said and installed members plugin. On their site I also saw refeerence to a complementary plugin ‘multiple roles’ so I installed that as well.
Unfortunatly I couldn’t get it to stick.
So I contacted them and got this disappointing answer.
http://wc-marketplace.com/support-forum/topic/role-issue-with-business-directory-plugin/the Business directory plugin is not compatible with the WCMp, therefore, it’s not available for the vendor to edit his/her entry details.
For now, I have added this on our to-do-list but this would take time. I would refrain from committing any deadline for the future launches as I have realized that the failure percentage is almost 100%.There are other marketplace-plugins so I’ll try those first.
But wouldn’t that be nice : a business directory where you can offer every business a webshop on the fly.I’ll be back …

ParticipantOK Steven, I’m back.
I have installed a new market-place plugin (www.wcvendors.com) and was able to ‘stick’ the connection-capabilities to the Vendor Role. So it works !
A business-directory with a webshop for every entry that wants one.Although I could list a couple of enhancements, you have a great plugin. I’m nearly done with the current project and will move on to new ones where I’ll use it as well.
Thanks,

Hmmm, not sure I fully understand their reply other than them saying it’s not going to work. I imagine it will not work with any other plugins that use the WP roles/capabilities system either since the settings did “stick” in Members either.
In the end, it is good to hear you found a working solution using a different market place plugin for woocommerce.
