ParticipantI couldn’t figure out how to do Featured Listings so I devised a way of my own, but I have a small problem that I’m sure can be corrected with a shortcode but I can’t figure out how to use the shortcodes.
The link to my directory in my main navigation goes to a page that only pulls up the “Featured” category [connections category='60' order-by='department|SORT_DESC'].
I also have a page that pulls the full directory [connections] that is set as my home page in settings. I tried adding the home-id=489 to the shortcode on the “Featured” page but that didn’t work (489 is the id for the page with the [connections] shortcode). I also tried adding force_home=TRUE to the shortcode on the “Featured” page and that didn’t work either.
That limited category page works fine unless someone clicks on the Show All Categories link in the category list. Then, only the items that are “Featured” will list on the page.
All the other category links in the category list work fine pulling the correct listings whether they are marked “Featured” or not – only the Show All Categories limits the list to only those marked “Featured”.
How do I get it to go to the FULL directory when a visitor clicks on the Show All Categories link in the categories list while on my “Featured” page?
Thanks,
Reba

I think I understand … but can you share a link to your directory so I can see the issue. It will help me better understand so I can give precise directions.
Thanks!
Oh, the correct shortcode option name is
home_id
, nothome-id

ParticipantHere’s the link to directory “Featured” page:
http://plronestop.com/limited-time-plr-offers-featured-suppliers/
And here’s the link that pulls in the entire directory:
http://plronestop.com/plr-supplier-directory/
And oh, I had it right in my shortcode:
[connections home_id='489' category='60' order-by='department|SORT_DESC',]

Ok, I see… I’m not certain I can think of a way around that doesn’t involve making code changes to the template.
I’m working on updates to all the templates and working on Market is literally the next thing I’m going to do. I’ll post back a little later today.

I just uploaded the update to Market. It is available to download from your purchase history. I believe this should fix the home_id and force_home shortcode options. Please let me know if it does not.

ParticipantSteven,
Thanks! The shortcode force_home=’TRUE’ worked perfectly!

ParticipantOkay, I was wrong and sorry to be such a pain – everything works fine in Firefox but in IE none of the new listings added are showing after clicking the Show All Categories. The new categories added disappear too once the Show All Categories is clicked. It switches to the homepage as it should when using the force-home=’true’ but the new listings and new categories aren’t there. If I click on an old category that a new listing is categorized under, the new listing will show up and the new categories will show, but if I then click on Show All Categories, they go away again.
A new listing is MagazinePLR – and a new category that it is also categorized under is eMagazine. It’s also categorized under Dating which is an old category that was there before the upgrade and shows up just fine.
But I swear I upgraded after I added these items but then again, my memory could be wrong.
I hate IE – it seems every time there’s an update of any kind it won’t work. I haven’t tried it in Chrome.
Thanks,
Reba

I see you are using WP Supper Cache … clear your cache and everything should show up. Then, if I remember correctly, there is a setting in WP Super Cache not to cache pages with query strings. enable that option.

ParticipantThat worked perfectly – thank you!!
And one more tiny thing since the upgrade – the search box looks weird in IE but looks fine in Firefox. I attached a screenshot.
I hope I’m not too much of a pain but I think you would want to know what your users are seeing. You’ve been wonderful through all my issues, thank you so much for your patience.

Thanks and no problem.
Which version of IE are you using? Looks fine in IE11 for me.
