ParticipantI have that checkbox marked in Settings / Display / Edit Entry and as admin I can get the “edit entries” option when viewing the directory but some users are not getting it at all. How to fix? Is it the possible the connection between user account and Connections entry is broken/missing?
Have updated to latest Connections version and PHP is 7.1.
Many thanks!

RE: Is it the possible the connection between user account and Connections entry is broken/missing?
Sure… have those users logged in so their WP User account will be linked? If they have not, they need to login. The WP User account email and the Connections Entry MUST have a matching email address in order to be linked on login.
You can view which directory entries have been linked to which user on the Connections : Manage admin page. Look to the far right of an entry row. It display a Linked to label with a link to the WP User admin account profile page.
WP Users not linked to a Connections Entry will not have the “Edit Entry” link displayed. Instead they would have the Add Entry link assuming that user was giving the correct role capabilities.
Hope this helps, let me know.

RE: Sorry, I am not seeing the Linked To cable in Connections: Manage admin page.
That could be the point… If the user is not link it will not be shown in the admin so there will not be anything shown. So, if your users have not logged in they are not linked which mean there will be nothing shown in the admin as them being linked and that user will not be shown the edit entry link.
I’ve attached a screenshot showing where the linked to user will be shown on the Connections : Manage admin page. Like I said, that will only be displayed if an entry has actually been linked to a WP User.
My suggestions:
- Ensure the configuration of Link is correct.
- See the Why is Link not linking the user and entry? FAQ. It includes a step by step direction on how to test that Link is correctly linking a WP User to a Connections Entry.
Hope this helps!

GuestHi Steve
I don’t know…..I think something wacky is going on with Link.
Seems like there are a few of my listings that will not link to their user even though I triple checked that their email addresses in the listing match their account email address. Other listings are fine.
Have you had any other reports on this?
Thanks

Generally when an admin has trouble, it has to do with their testing process. Have you followed the guidance given in the FAQ I linked to in my previous reply?
If you are certain you have and the user and the entry were linked correctly, Link is functioning correctly. There is nothing more for you as an admin to do. It is designed like this so the admin does not have to worry about the process. The only way to have Link do its thing is to have the user you wish to have linked is to have them logout and back in.
If you as an admin want to “force” the process, install the User Switching plugin. Link was made specifically to be compatible with it. You can use it to “log in” as the user and the entry will be linked as if the user had logged in themself.
If you are finding that the directory entry is not being linked, the first thing to check is the email addresses. The second thing to check is if that directory entry has already been linked to another user. If it has been linked to another user, it can not be linked to another — even if you change the email address of both the entry and the user. The link between the two is persistent.
If at this point the entry is still not being linked to the user, click the Copy action for the entry on the Connections : Manage admin page, do not save the copy yet. Open the Manage page in another tab and delete the original entry. Now Save the copy. After this, you can repeat the User Switching for “force” a link.
Hope that helps!

ParticipantI’m different than Matt 8-)
Link does seem to be working. I’m guessing the few issues I had were user error on my part. I’ll keep monitoring 8-)
