Multisite: No
Connections: 0.7.9.5
Database: 0.1.9
Connections Excerpt Plus: 1.0.2Just purchased Widget pack. Tried installing via normal plugin install but had blank white screen in plugin admin area.
Unzipped and uploaded folder to plugin folder manually same thing when I try and go to the plugin page to active the plugin just get a white screen.

Sounds like you might have exhausted the memory allocated to PHP. Try the solutions presented in this blog post. Start at the top and work your way down the list. Which method that will work for depends on your web host configuration.

Let me know if that solves the issue or not.

ParticipantI’m running 128Mb and I don’t think those methods will work on my server, I did try the wp_config one out php info still showed 128Mb.
Do you think it should need more memory than 128? Seems a bit high but I could talk to my hosting company.

128 should be more than sufficient in most cases. Ther is a slightly newer version of Excerpt Plus; version 1.0.3. That only had a few minor bug fixes. What version of the Widget Pack?
Also, did you try deactivating all other plugins, besides the Connections related ones to see if there is an unknown conflict?

ParticipantHi
Widget pack 1.2 I only purchased it yesterday.
It is a conflict with the Better WP Security plugin.
I don’t have the “Display random version number to all non-administrative users” checked. I don’t have any of the Server tweaks checked.
I don’t even need to Activate the widgets plugin to get the white screen. I can simply upload it and try and go to the plugins page for the white screen to happen.
I can’t see any error messages, any idea how I might debug as I must use Better WP Security plugin.
Thanks

I’ve installed Better WP Security on my testing site on a production server and it works fine together as I would expect since the Widget Pack is just widgets using code already in use by the core Connections plugin. Still sounds like a memory issue to me. It is possible to set PHP memory limit but the host have a “hard” limit that is lower than the set limit and PHP would still report the set limit rather than the hard limit … hope that makes sense!
I suggest checking w/ them to see what exactly you memory limit is.
Also, can you attached me a screen capture of the Better WP Security Dashboard admin page? I’ll setup my test installation to match yours as closely as possible to make sure they is not some weird conflict with a specific setting within Better WP Security. Please include the System Info section too.
Did you try leaving Better WP Security active and deactivate other plugins to see if the result is reproducible?

ParticipantHi Steven
I have upgraded the PHP memory limit to 256Mb and this appears to have allowed me to use the Widgets, I will investigate to try and understand why this site needs so much memory.
Thanks for your support.

Good to hear it is working. That does sound like a lot memory. I usually configure for 256M. This site has over 80 active plugins but still only takes less than 55M of memory. And that is with a “heavy” theme.
