ParticipantHi Steve – thanks for your incredible support! My question today is I am having trouble figuring out how a user edits their entry and selects a different category. Every time I try it, it brings up the main entry and doesn’t update the new category. Some details are: the main directory is: http://www.treyburn-test.org/address-book/ with another directory (or category) that I am now trying to work on, is located: http://www.treyburn-test.org/contractor-referrals/. Let me know what other info you need to understand the problem.
Thanks again!

ParticipantUpdate – I forgot to mention … and when I update an entry and add a different category, it wipes out the original entry (in the main directory or address-book category) which is not what I want. Can’t one make many entries into each category?

Not certain I really understand the issue you are having. Both the links require a login so I can not see the directories you’ve setup.
The one thing I can answer, that is, If I understand the question. A WP User and a Connections entry is a one to one relationship, not a one to many. Meaning a WP user may only update/edit one Connections entry (the one to which they are linked to).
And… an entry can be assigned to an unlimited number of categories.
Hope this helps!

ParticipantAh what a shame – I was hoping that user A could update Directory A, B & C but they can only create/update one correct?
Thank you for your prompt reply!

ParticipantI have another related question, can User A create multiples entries in Directory A (for example)? I hope so, if not do you have any suggestions on how to accomplish this?
Thank you,

Correct, it is a one-to-one relationship. One Connections Entry to one WP User.

Yes, but, you would have to disable Link therefore that one user would no longer be able to their entry, but that one user could submit an unlimited number of entries.

ParticipantThanks Steve for your reply – there is one important word missing … when you wrote: “Yes, but, you would have to disable Link therefore that one user would no longer be able to their entry,” What is the word after “able to?” Is it edit? Create? If it’s create, I’m OK because I am creating all the initial entries, I just want our community to be able to edit their listing.

The missing word is edit… without Link their is no relation to a WP User and a Connections entry.
I’ll rephrase my other answers…
There is no way for a single WP user to edit multiple entries unless given the permissions to edit all entries (like the admin). With Link, a WP user is given permission to edit only a single entry, one which has been linked to their WP user account by their email address.
Hope that clears up any confusion.
