GuestI updated the category of a members who are officers of our organization (such as “President” to “Past President”) but the new category does not display in the member list; the old one persists. This happens for all our categories of officers. Result: “Business Card” member displays in membership lists are wrong.

I see you’re using W3TC, excellent plugin! Make sure you empty the page cache after you make the category change.
Hope that helps!

ParticipantSorry, Steve, but it did NOT help. I cleared all WP caches, and still the same result. Furthermore, I refreshed the display page to be sure there was no local browser cache, and that did not help either.
Note: the “Manage” tab in Connections under WP Dashboard shows the updated category properly. It is on the business card-type display that the users see when they show the Member Directory with only member privileges. Their display does not update.
Incidentally, I changed these categories last October, long before W3TC was installed! It was only discovered recently when one of the members told me that the cards were wrong.
I’ll be glad to supply specific member names and admin privilege if you’d like to try to observe the problem, but if so, let’s do it via a more private communication.
Thanks for your prompt reply! Another user told me she was as impressed as I am at your care and concern for your clients.
Thanks,
Joe-

I see…
The officer title is entered in the
Department
field within the entry. That is what is being displayed, not the actual category the entry has been assigned.04/07/2014 at 6:13 pm #288001KentZ

Semantically, it would be more correct to place the officer title in the title field.
If you’re able to edit PHP you could edit the template to include it.
Open the
card.php
andcard-single.php
and place the following code where you want the categories to be displayed. Both files can be found here:
../wp-content/plugins/connections-cmap/
<?php $entry->getCategoryBlock( array( 'separator' => ', ', 'before' => '<span>', 'after' => '</span>' ) ); ?>
