GuestI had this working (once!) but can’t get it to work again!!!!
It may be a plugin conflict as i rely on both WP-Member login and yours. I have a few members in connections but am unable to give them access to edit their connections profile. I have been trying and re-trying for hours. I need you to take a look. This is a test site, so do what you want – you can’t hurt anything.
Visitor 1qaz2wsxGeneral Question: My goal is this behaviour once user’s register, I direct them to log in – change their password and then create an account using the connections form and then log out. I believe that all data should be preserved fine, and that link would be able to work well. Please advise if not.

GuestI discovered what is going on – if I create the directory content using the connections form – the user is unable to edit their information. However, if I use the form that is generated to form to the wordpress dashboard page then it works.
It seems data submitted via the connections forms is not linked to the user account.

Ok, that makes sense…
Form’s function is to take guest submissions into the directory it does not link the submitter to the submitted entry. This can only be done with Link on the “Edit My Directory Entry” admin page, currently. I am working to being better harmony between the various add-ons so this can all be accomplished in the front end in a more seamless manner.
Not sure what you current workflow is, but I know others have used the built-in WordPress registration process and then used a plugin to redirect the user to the Link “Edit My Directory Entry” admin page to allow the user to submit their entry.
Another option I seen done is let the user submit the entry using Form and then direct them to register create an account and when they login, Link would link the user to the previously submitted entry.
Does that help?

GuestYes – that explains a lot. I just need to work out a new workflow. Thanks!
Once the two are linked – and the directory is created, can a user go in a change their password? I haven’t tested this scenario out yet (but I will). Just wanted to hear you POV.

Yes, the user can change their password as often as they wish, that will not have an affect on the account link.

GuestAnd one more question –
Now that I understand this a bit better – my concern; as users create an online account AFTER they create a directory (using the FORM submission process) the page hosting the FORM must be made public. Meaning – it does not require log in to submit information into the membership directory. Can I enable CAPTCHA on this page before they hit Submit? Please describe how.
I would prefer folks to use the FORM page to submit information – as it just looks smarter and is more user friendly. Then I will direct them to create a user profile to log into the website.
Thanks, Karen

Guestwhoops – one more, then I will stop and regroup.
If folks are filling out the FORM, I would like the response message to direct them to sign up for membersship – so I need to edit that text. After a user hits SUBMIT the text displays which currently says:
Submission received.
We will review and approve your submission soon.
I need to edit this.

You should be able to use the same method described in this post to change that string.
