ParticipantLogged in as admin I have the “tools” in the connections sub-menu where we can export entries, so all ok.
But, when logged in as editor, all the other connections sub-menus are there, BUT the “tools” one… how can I get the “tools” link to be available for editors?
thanks,

The Connections : Tools admin page will only be available to admins. You can use a plugin like User Role Editor to give the Editor role the required capabilites so the menu will show. The capabilities you’ll need to add to the Editor roles are:
- manage_options
- import
- export
Note of caution, this will also open up other areas in WordPress that are managed by those same capabilities.
Hope that helps!

ParticipantThanks for quick reply.
I tried adding the capabilities, but no change. Am I missing something?

I’m sorry! I forgot to mention something important. The capabilities I listed are for the 8.5.8 version that I plan on releasing tomorrow/Friday. With 8.5.7 you need only the install_plugins capability. When developing the new tools I used the install_plugins capability… forgetting to set the correct capabilities. Version 8.5.8 fixes this.

ParticipantI update to the latest version but nothing changed. the editor cannot see the tools menu and export (You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.). I need them to be able to do this so what now? they are on my every hour here so not sure what to tell them.
thanks,

Oh, fudge!!! I made a mistake with the permissions. You want the editor to see the Tools menu and the import and then export tabs, correct?

If you can give me a temp admin login, I can make the two very minor tweaks to make this show up properly for the editor as long as they have the import and export capabilities which I believe they have by default. You can post the login detail here as a private reply.

Ok, was incorrect editors do not have the import export capabilities by default… just wanted to correct that statement I made in my previous reply.
