GuestI’ve set up the plugin (Free Version) on a fresh WordPress setup, with All in One SEO and the AVADA theme. I’ve put the shortcode on /directory
I’ve put in a category and entries.
On any dorectiry page – Root, Category or entries, it just shows the Root page Title Meta – ie. Directory.
I’ve tried changeing themes and turning off All in One SEO and it’s still the same.
Is there a setting or something I’ve missed?

It could be that AIOSEO is overriding the what Connections sets. Are the options enabled on the Connections : Settings admin page under the SEO tab?

GuestHi Steven,
Yes, all three options in the SEO tab are clicked.
I have also tried deactivating All in One SEO. It’s the same result – it uses the standard title.
I’ve even tried de-activating the plugins and using the standard theme but the same result.

GuestI also just tried in a fresh install with no plugins or theme – just 2015 standard theme – and the same – no titles.
It must be something I’m doing on the Install.
I install the plugin, then add the [connections] to the page right?

Sorry, but I am not able to replicate the issue. Can you please share a link to the site having the issue so I can review.

re: Where does the title come from? (Which field?)
The title is made from the WordPress title prepending the entry name/category name. So, the page title on your test site should be:
Organisation 1 » Directory » E.Services in Melbourne Test
Basically, a breadcrumb to show site content structure within the directory.
I see the issue now. It seems in WordPress 4.4 changed the how the page meta title is output and back ported that change to the core Twenty{Year} themes except for TwentyTwelve and TwentyThirteen. And, of course, all my other test themes still use the
wp_title()
function to output the page meta title (the “old” way) so I did not notice this change in WordPress. Thewp_title()
will eventually be deprecated but it seems like either the new way or usingwp_title()
are acceptable to use.Any way, all that said… I made changes to account for both methods which will be included in the next update. Apologies for the trouble!

GuestThanks Steven!
I was going crazy trying to work out what I was doing wrong.
I’ll wait for the update.
