ParticipantAdditionally to the category feature, will there be tags in a future release? It would be a great feature for very big and more complex directories.

Yeah, on the to do list. Don’t know when though.

ParticipantHi, will we be having the tags feature for this plugin? I see that it’s been quite a few years since your reply. It is one quite important feature my client would need to be able to use to search individual profiles based on keywords.

KeymasterThis year, I have implemented a custom taxonomy API (categories, tags, etc.) in Connections. Tag support is built-in now. It is, however, still commented out in the code (disabled).
If you wish, you can uncomment the code in the
../wp-content/plugins/connections/includes/Taxonomy/Register.php
file:There is still minor work around the user experience when adding/editing tags when managing a directory entry.
I suggest repurposing the “Notes” field to a “tags field for searching. Enter the “tags” that you want the entry to return as a result for into the field and configure the template not to display the notes.
I hope this helps!

ParticipantWhen will the tag implementation be complete?

KeymasterApologies, I did not notice the new post in this support thread.
I do not have a definitive eta. The only items left on my checklist are auto-completion of tags when entering them into the tag field, integration for the Form addon, and search. I am presently working on stubbing out the advanced search features into the core Connections plugin so they can be rolled out in some fashion (undecided at this time) into the existing templates that enable search.
As mentioned in my last reply, you can uncomment the code to enable tags support now. The core code is unlikely to change much, if at all, as the core categories feature already utilizes the same code that enables tag support.
