    We have over 600 Connections records. The front-end Connections home page lists them all, and takes 20+ seconds to come in. By contrast, when clicking on a letter or doing a search, the results take only about 3 seconds to come in.

    How can we suppress the full list on the first page, either showing nothing or else a limited number of results, with the rest accessible with “next page” buttons?

    Wow, I’m actually surprised that many would list on a page at all, usually PHP execution and memory limits kick in well before that. Any way, to answer your question … Yes, you need to use a template that support pagination, most for sale do. The only ones that do not are Excerpt, Slim and Tile.
