I applied a hot patch of a tweak included in the next Form update which seems to have fix the issue for you. I suspect the solution is a combination of the tweak applied in the core Connections plugin and the Form add on I just added.
I plan on releasing the next Form update in January so it should be safe for you to update when it is released. Hopefully this is an indication that I’ve finally worked around these very rare cases where the script is not being loaded like it should. I suspect the cause in these rare instances has to do with the way the theme renders the page. Any way, as mentioned, it looks like its good now.
Apologies for the trouble! Thanks for working with me to resolve it!

ParticipantHi,
I unfortunately still have an issue. It seems like your changes influenced the customizer.php.
After activating your plugin the customizer fails to open the menue or showing a preview. After deactivating connections it works again.Any advise?

RE: I unfortunately still have an issue. It seems like your changes influenced the customizer.php.
This is very unlikely as the change is merely a tweak on when WP will load the javascript for Form. In addition the code for Form only runs on its page, nowhere else.

Leaving Connections and its adon active, please do the following:
Let me know what you learn.

I do not see a sense in deactivating all other plugin or themes. It is pretty clear: If I deactivate connections the customizer works. If I reactivate it again the customizer does not work. Please understand it the other way round. The theme developer would advice to rather deactivate the connections plugin, because this seems to cause the problem.
Nevertheless, I checked both ways to find out about a theme or a plugin conflict. If a deactivate all plugins (beside the connections plugins) this does not help. I still have no access to the customizer. So, unfortunately, I did not learn anything.

Actually doing this is valuable time spent… for example, what if the issue is actually two plugins conflicting when the Customizer is loaded or if a combination of plugins and themes.
What does not make sense… the Customizer should load just fine with out any other plugins and the default WP theme… but you are saying it does not? If so, that would indicate a new and unknown issue that may be unique to your installation. To investigate further, I’ll need an admin login so I can debug further.

RE: Seems like all my troubles are unique…
With many thousand in sales and far many more in total installations over nearly a decade, yes, most issues tend to be more unique if they are not straight up conflicts. When more than a handful have experience a similar issue I code in workarounds. Here’s one example to which you can relate:
Over the course of the past several years a few dozen or so users Form would not send when the submit button was clicked. And its Add buttons would just cause the form to jump to the top of the page. For all those past users who experienced this, I simply provided a code snippet that forced the javascript for Form to be loaded vs. doing it the right way. For some reason the right way, for them, was not working. A few days before you posted about this issue another had the same issue. The solution for that user was to check if a specific core WP script was registered and if it was not, register it. Something in that users setup was unregistering a core WP script, something that should not be done because of this exact reason. Other plugins may depend on it. If you recall that solution had not worked for you. When debugging your issue I notice the text editor for the bio/notes field was working which meant other core WP scripts were being loaded into the page footer like they should be, but the javascript for Form was not. So I researched how WP was ensuring that they were and mimicked that process in Form and applied that as a hot patch to your site. One should not have to jump thru those hoops as WP provides a specific method for plugin devs to use to output plugin’s javascript. Now that I have these two workarounds in code, I expect this issue to be even more rare.
I am supporting another user this very moment where the Customizer is not loaded for them, but when I log in, it works for me using the exact same login as he is. Would you not also consider that unique?
Any way, back on to sorting out why the Customizer is not loading for you…

Ok, I tracked down the conflict. When the Connections Widget Pack plugin is not active, the Customizer loads just fine… not exactly sure why this would be the case yet as I can not replicate on my dev site.
