When I place the Connections shortcode on a static front page, using the search function or selecting a category leads to the posts page. I’m using the cMap template, but the same error is happening with other pro-templates as well. They work just fine except on the static front page.
I’m working with a brand new, clean install of WordPress 3.5.1, with Connections 0.7.6.1 No non-Connections plugins are enabled. The active WP theme is Mingle, but I get the same problem with Twenty-Twelve & Twenty-Eleven, too. I’ve tried de-activating & re-activating Connections, switching Connections themes, switching WP themes, even changing the permalink structure.
The problem seems vaguely familiar, but I can’t remember where I’ve seen something similar… and I’m out of ideas. Suggestions? :)
Yes, unfortunately because of a feature within WordPress called canonical redirect, queries made by Connections, when used on the static front page, will get routed to the blog page by WordPress. I have come up with a solution, but it is not nearly ready … so for now, Connections can not be used on the static front page, sorry.
Ah — Thank you, Steven! That’s what seemed familiar about it, I’d run into canonical issues before. I’ll work around it for now, and see if I can muddle through a solution on my own. I’ll let you know if I do.
