ParticipantThank you for your response.
I have edited the Featured Listings shortcode to this:
[connections category='644' template='cmap' page_limit='5' home_id='19413' lock='true']The result is the same: sorted or empty Featured Listings.
Is my code properly structured?
Thank you again.

Yes, the shortcode now looks fine.
Not that this should affect anything but it appears
home_id='19413'is actually the same page that the directory is on. If it is, then that settings is redundant because that is what it will default to. So you could remove it.Additionally, if the cMap template is the template activate on the Connections : Templates admin page, that option is redundant and can be removed.
But neither should affect the lock option but removing them will simplify your shortcode.
The only thing I can think of it must be something to do with your homegrown town select drop down. My best guess is that it is hard coded in the WP post editor with a bit of js to submit the value on click. Is that correct? You’re not using PHP or anything that directly alters the shortcode or anything, correct?

ParticipantThanks for the full answer, Steve!
Actually, my dropdown is simply a ‘by town’ url select list, no .js and no .php.
Do you have last suggestions for our need to sort one list by town?
Thanks again.

I see no reason for your homebrew town select not to work… the lock option should prevent that shortcode instance from being affected by the query var (url). I’m out of ideas. If you give me a temp WP admin account, I’ll take a look.

You needed to make the change on two pages… the first being:
site.com/eat-drink/restaurants-sort-test-page
and the second being:
site.com/eat-drink/restaurants-bars/
Actually, it was only the second page that required the lock option.
Once I figured that out and added the lock option to the second page, it work as expected. It was really confusing because both pages look the same.
