ParticipantHi Support – how do I sort my directory listing by street name instead of by last name? Is this possible? I have it sorted by last name on this page: http://www.treyburn-test.org/address-book/ and would like to provide another page sorted by street name.
Thank you – Linda

Sorry, but it is not possible to sort entries by street name.

ParticipantHi Steven – thank you for your prompt reply! Is there possibly a work-around? Is there a way to sort using the ID sort field perhaps? I only have 6 streets – perhaps that’s the solution? I found this on your website:
[connections id='5,401,10,36' order_by='id|SPECIFIED']
Would I use the “Add Messenger ID” field?
Thank you,

That shortcode is to output specific entries in a specific order utilizing the entry ID, not any of the messenger ID/s. It does not really do any sorting. Perhaps the quick and easy solution is the Custom Entry Order extension. You could assign each of the six streets a number and use that number to set the Entry Order field. Let’s say 1 thru 6. As an example Street X the first in the list would be 1 and Street Y would be 2 and so on. Adding those values to the Entry Order field would cause all entries with the order of 1 to be listed first followed by all entries with the order of 2 and so on.
Hope this make sense and helps. Let me know.
