ParticipantHi Steven,
Having worked in a library for a while we created a ‘prename’ field and a ‘name’ so when we had a title “The Cubby Hole” we would put the word ‘The’ in the prename field and ‘Cubby Hole’ in the name field.
Since most people know that title by the name ‘Cubby Hole’ they expected it to be sorted with the Cs and not the Ts.
Your thoughts on adding this capability?
Thanks
Randy

The name field already has a prefix field, see the screenshot.
Or, am I misunderstanding the question?

GuestThanks for ur quick response!
I was hoping for a pre-name for when the entry is an organization – not an individual. We have companies that have “The” at the beginning of their name.
For example: The Barclay Group. They want to sort by the “B” not he “T”.Thanks!

Oh…
How about, “Barclay Group, The” and “Cubby Hole, The”?

ParticipantSteven,
Yeah, that’s what we were thinking too if we couldn’t create a prename.
Can you think about it for future release?
Thanks
Randy

Sorry, but I do not think this would ever be added to the core plugin. I do offer custom development services for Connections. If you are interested, I think we could add a “Display Name” field. You would enter the actual Org name as “Barclay Group, The” or “Barclay Group” then input the “Display Name” as “The Barclay Group”. That would be the easiest and quickest solution which would work within the current Connections design.
