ParticipantHello!
I operate a list of emergency services – that is, companies that offer 24/7 service.
I need some hints on how to proceed.
I would like to have a page for the selection of categories. On the page is also a search field, with which one can search for keywords. The keywords are assigned to the categories and not to the individual addresses (if someone searches for “broken window”, he gets the addresses of all glaziers. The results page is a bit more difficult.
Only one category should be displayed. If someone has a broken window, he does not need a car service. The category menu therefore only distracts and disturbs.
I want to sort the results – first my paid advertisers, then ranked by zip code.Ideally, the representation would be in a simple list:
Name Phone
more…If you click on “more”, the complete address data (including hours etc.) will appear.
I´m willing to work step by step with the manual – and i try, but i failed, because i have no clue how to start.
Can you please give me some hints?

ParticipantFirst cognition: maybe the market template is better for my purpose than “tile-plus”

I know of nothing that gets you those exact specifications. Perhaps an advanced search option as shown on this live third party site. The “Find A Therapist” section :
This can be put on a separate page. It displays a drop down listing the categories, optionally broken into multiple drop downs based on category parent. When the drop down is clicked by the user, the user can search for specific categories.
This also allows one to search by zip and results ordered by nearest to farthest.
And of course a keyword search to search for keywords within the entry.
This can also be placed on the directory page itself, replacing the category drop down and keyword select of the existing template. This will allow a user to refine the search listing only the desired category(ies).
As for the display of the results, this is achievable too but would require a custom template built to suit.
If the advanced search suits you needs, I do install and configure this for a fee. If you are interested, let me know and I’ll proved a quote.
Same for the custom template. I do provide custom template solutions. If interested, let me know.
Hope this helps!

ParticipantOk, thanks for the information. I think I will do it differently:
I’m making a static HTML page that contains the categories. My categories never change, so that’s no problem. From this page I link to single pages. A category is called up on each individual page. I can put the search terms in the single page. I call Connections with shortcode attributes. Custom entry order I already have. This should work. Do I have a thought-failure?01/25/2017 at 4:21 pm #408380Steven Zahm

That sounds like it would work. Unless you have a specific layout desired for the categories, the Enhanced Category extension (which you have) has a shortcode that can be used to output the categories. Then you can achieve what you want with only two pages. One with the categories and the other with the directory which would only show the results of the categories that was clicked. Doing it this way, you would have to disable the category dropdown in tile Plus so things do not get confused.
Hope that helps!
