ParticipantHi Steve
I am using the SLIM template on a few sites. I really like it, but the page loads slowly. I was wondering if you have a solution or some idea to make the page load at a reasonable speed. In one case the page takes about 3 seconds to load. It sounds like nothing, but it seems long.
Thanks,

It took me a bit digging thru my email archive to find a link… I found one page with Slim on it:
http://ccl.rutgers.edu/collaborators/It look like there are over a hundred entries on the page, that would cause a longer page load time, for the same reasons if you tried to load 100 post titles and their excerpts.
The only real solution would be to use a page caching plugin like WP Rocket I one mention this specific plugin because that is the one I use. Not affiliated with it in any way, just a happy user.
By using a page cache, WP will not have to rebuild the entire page each time. You will probably get 1s page loads with page caching in place.
Hope that helps!

ParticipantThanks Steve – I will give that a try. The page you looked at – http://ccl.rutgers.edu/collaborators/ – is a bit slow, but another one (on a dev site that’s not yet public) is even slower. That’s the one I am most concerned with. So hopefully WP Rocket will help – thanks for the tip!

ParticipantFYI, I wanted to try a free caching plugin so I installed W3 Total Cache and it made a world of difference!

Great to hear. I use to use W3TC before moving to WP Rocket. It is a very good plugin.

ParticipantHi Steve
Just a follow-up – I ended up ditching W3TC because it was conflicting with other plugins. But I switched to Slim Plus and enabled pagination – problem solved!
Cheers,
