I am using slim plus with the results minimised but I was thinking, if some of the results displayed maximised automatically we could make those premium entries?11/18/2013 at 1:08 pm #273914
Myabe display those premium listing at the top of the list too?11/19/2013 at 2:46 pm #274023
It can be done using this method.
For a featured section you could create a “Featured” category and put the shortcode on the page twice. The first one limited to the “Featured” category and the second for general results. If you do, the lock shortcode option could be useful in order to make sure the “locked” shortcode instance is not effect by search and category selection choice made by the user. The downside is that the featured instance would be shown on on the single entry page too. One way around that would be to create a “Results” page and direct the links to it with the home_id. On the “Results” page you would just use the
[connections]shortcode with no options. You could get creative though and use the template shortcode option on the page so the results are shown in a different template.
I hope that isn’t confusing and makes sense.11/20/2013 at 6:53 am #274058
i am sure I could work this through on a test page but I’m not sure I fully understand how it would work. Particularly, I would need to be able to filter the results using more than one category e.g. I already have a list of results filtered using connections category=’58’ in the short code. Are you saying that I can also add connections category=’100′ in the same short code ‘100’ being the Featured category11/20/2013 at 1:13 pm #274088
Here’s an example; on your directory page:
Featured Entries [connections category=100 lock=true home_id=x] [connections category=58 home_id=x]
X would equal another page, a directory results page, that when you click on the entry name you would see the single entry. On that page you would just have:
Does that helps11/22/2013 at 11:38 am #274193Steve JonesGuest
I can’t get my head round this. When I get time I’ll create a text page and get you to set it up for me if that’s possible

There not more to it that the post above. Create two pages and then copy/paste into the page. The only thing you need to change are the ID/s, the two X‘s.11/25/2013 at 7:44 am #274266
I’m afraid I’m still confused. I have attached a mock-up of what I would like to achieve, where the expanded entries at the top of the list are my featured entries. You’ll see from the web pages that the category structure isn’t simple11/25/2013 at 7:46 am #27426711/25/2013 at 10:46 am #274279
Looking at the link you shared…
1. You need to create the “Featured” category.
2. Then edit the page so it looks like this:
[connections category=100 lock=true enable_pagination=false] [connections category=58 enable_search=false]
The category ID/s Im using are based on this reply. So 100 is based on the “Featured” category ID being 100. If it isn’t change the ID in the shortcode.
If you want to use Slim Plus so some entries are open by default, you’ll have to do this too. But one step at a time.
