ParticipantSorry if the documentation is out there, I can not find it. Using cmap. I am looking for a way for the default page to display all businesses by category instead of an alphabetical list that mixes the categories?
When I do it manually using category shortcodes, it looks ok but searches are not good, the search result page comes up with all the categories, so one may have to scroll down through empty categories to find the search results, does not look good. Also, I can not suppress the Search and Select Category boxes, they appear at the top of each category. I would like just one Search and Select Category at the top of the page.
Here is my shortcode:
[connections category='5' enable_search=’false’ enable_category_select=’false’ str_work_phone='Phone' str_bio_show=More Information str_bio_hide='Close Information' str_bio_head="" background_color='#fefced']Looking for something like this:
Select Category Search
Category Financial
-first listing
-second listing
-another listingCategory Automotive
-first listing
-second listing
-another listingCategory Construction
-first listing
-second listing
-another listingCan this be done? Any help will be appreciated! Thank you.

ParticipantOK, found one error. Suppression of Search and Category works if done correctly (my error), but I would like one search box that will search all categories on a page that lists businesses by category as the example above.
Corrected short code:
[connections category='5' enable_search='false' enable_category_select='false' str_work_phone='Phone' str_bio_show=More Information str_bio_hide='Close Information' str_bio_head="" background_color='#fefced']Example page (temporary): http://getsirius.biz/mp/business-directory/

Sorry, but there is not a way to effectively display the directory grouped by category while being scalable and searchable. With small directories, ones that can easily fit all entries on a single page it is doable by utilizing the shortcode for each category but I do not believe this could be done in an automated fashion where it woulds be scalable to hundreds/thousands of categories and their respective entries.

ParticipantThank you for the reply Steven. I found my answer by making a separate page for each category and an index on the side and an introductory page that is also used as the Home page for Connections so that search results for one category does not display on the page of some other category. Should be good enough to keep my client happy.

Yes, that is what many others do to. Good to hear you found a solution that works for you.
