ParticipantI have searched around quite a bit through the forums but haven’t quite found a solution for my scenario. I have “All” set to cMap template, along with Organization. I am using “Names” for the Individual template.
This is great for the main directory as I have it set like this:
[connections order_by="meta_key:order|NUMERIC_ASC,sort_column"]
My Organizations (paid members) show first and all the FREE entries show below them alphabetically.
But, I also have featured pages (sections) of the site like Dining Guide for example, where I use a shortcode in a few different sections like Restaurants. In these special sections I only want to display those database entries that are classified as Organizations – and not display anything set as an Individual using the Names template.
I guess if I could find a list of all the available shortcodes I could probably figure it out myself, but I’ve only been able to find bits and pieces of the shortcode options throughout various posts and documentation.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If I understand correctly, you should be able to use the list_type shortcode option by adding the
list_type="organization"to the ***existing shortcode.re: I guess if I could find a list of all the available shortcodes I could probably figure it out myself, but I’ve only been able to find bits and pieces of the shortcode options throughout various posts and documentation.
The core shortcode options are found on this doc page. These will function regardless of template used.
The cMap template does support additional shortcode options but it is highly recommended to use the Template Customizer instead. Here’s is the link to the doc page which goes over the cMap template’s shortcode options.
re: order_by=”meta_key:order|NUMERIC_ASC,sort_column”
I see you are using a meta query to order your entries. Another option which I suggest over this method is the Custom Entry Order extension. The end result of both methods are the same but the Custom Entry Order extension does it a little more efficiently because an optimized db query can be used rather than a meta query.
Hope this answers your questions thoroughly!

ParticipantThanks. I had seen that list of shortcodes but in various forum posts I have seen other ones… or variations of..
I have tried this as an example:
[connections show_category_in="restaurants" list_type="organization"]
but it shows ALL organizations, not just restaurants, so don’t know how to refine the query or if it’s even possible.
I have tried using just show_category as well as using 2 as the category number instead of restaurants.
The meta query was done so I could fully test this directory system without buying everything first. I have experimented with a lot of different directory plugins and am hoping to find that Connections is the most customizable option for our use. I will look further into the Custom Order Extension as an option to meta query. Good to know the extension is more efficient.

re: Thanks. I had seen that list of shortcodes but in various forum posts I have seen other ones
Most are template specific shortcodes which share a lot of overlap. The pages I gave you the link sto are valid for the core plugin and cMap.
There is no shortcode option named
show_category_in. There is category_in andenable_category_select,show_empty_categoriesandshow_category_countfor cMapSo it seems you might be combing a couple???
re: [connections show_category_in="restaurants" list_type="organization"]
This would be correct for your useage:
[connections category="x" list_type="organization"]Where
xwould be the category ID number for your Restaurant category. You could use:
[connections category_in="x" list_type="organization"]but, that is a more “expensive” query when compared to querying by a single category which is what your are looking to do.
You should only use it when you only want to display entries that are assigned to all (operational AND) the defined category ID/s.
Hope that helps!
