GuestHi David,
I have returned to the SEO setup which you kindly helped with a week or two ago. I have tried the SEO options in settings and to be honest cannot see the effect that they have except the obvious one about an excerpt based on either category or bio if one is entered. I presume the bio selection is automatic if there is any text entered. I was hoping to have any search result made in Google show the Name Infoshield followed by the directory entry name as the title to be the way titles are expressed in any SERPS page. The site is working and now I have to raise the profile. any other tips you might be able to make would be most appreciated.Regards,

Looking at some Google search results for your site:
site:https://infoshield.co.uk/searches/auctioneers/
It appears that some entries are indexed in the search results as the business name followed by infoshield (not sure it can be swapped the other way round).
Many are
| Buy sell antiques|Locate Auctioneers|Infoshield UK | Infoshield UK
. Impossible for me to know, but my guess, this is being done by AIOSEO since it overrides core WP page titles.Impossible for me to know if business name followed by infoshield are the original indexed page titles or the other is. But, my guess is that business name followed by infoshield are the original Google indexed. If that is the case, I would suggest undoing whatever settings changes were done to make the page titles all
| Buy sell antiques|Locate Auctioneers|Infoshield UK | Infoshield UK
.Not sure this helps, but I hope it does!

Guesthi Steven,
Thanks for your reply and I will look into your suggestions. I wonder if you could give a little clarity to the SEO settings in connections. i understand the requirements in standard page titles and what is needed to bolster search SEO but I do not quite understand what effects are produced in the connections settings.
As a second question is there a way to hide client data except for the Business name and possibly phone number unless a client has subscribed. I would like to ensure that a business remained in the database but was only marginally presented if non subscribed.
Regards,
Richard M

First, I am not an SEO expert but my understanding is that Google and other major search engines don’t actually use the page title or page description to rank your site. And Google may decide via their own algorithms to create their own improved page titles for the search results for your site. The link goes into more details.
More info on the SEO settings in Connections can be found in the docs. Here are a few examples of how the settings affect the page:
Page Meta
- Title -> Enabled (This affects the page title in the browser tab. This is the one Google may use in their search results.)
Entry Name | Parent Page Title
- Title -> Disabled
Entry Name
- Description -> Enabled (This may or may not be used as the page description Google displays in their search results)
Adds a page description created as an excerpt from either the current entry bio.
- Description -> Disabled
No page description is added. Google may or may not create its own from the page content.
Page Display
- Title -> Enabled (This is the page title displayed on the page)
Entry Name | Parent Page Title
- Title -> Disabled
Entry Name
Hope this helps!

GuestHi Steven,
Once again thanksfor your prompt responses. Would you mind just confirming that the bio text will be used automatically to create the description if no text is entered it defaults to using the google generated wording.Do you know of a way that the visibility of each entry data can be switched on or off except for just basic detail. This is to provide enhanced service to paying clients but still leave the entry in the database.
Thanks for your really high quality support and I will be pushing your plugins to a number of potential clients in the near future.

RE: Would you mind just confirming that the bio text will be used automatically to create the description if no text is entered it defaults to using the google generated wording.
Yes, the bio text, if available, will be used to create a page description for Google. Like everything else, Google may chose or not chose to use it and may decide to automatically create a better one for you.
Sorry, for the non-answer answer.
RE: Do you know of a way that the visibility of each entry data can be switched on or off except for just basic detail.
Sorry, you did ask this yesterday! I forgot by the time I was finished writing my other answer :/
All the repeatable fields such as address/phone/email have a visibility setting, set it to private. The only logged in users can view that info.
Hope that helps!
