ParticipantCan you let me you how SEO works with Connections and the cMap?

Keymaster@ MARA
Well, entries are marked up to the hCard spec which is supported by the major search engines. I have had reports where Google is not following the pagination links to help with that, I added the “rel” to the previous and next page links and I also added the “View All” link to help encourage Google to crawl. On the roadmap is to dynamically change the page title when viewing a single category/entry and integrating with WordPress SEO by Yoast.
Hope that helps.

ParticipantWhen I do a Google search for ‘Classic Showjumps’ to see what page I’m currently on. Clicking the result takes me to my home page and not the directory, can this be corrected?
Thanks

Assuming “Classic Showjumps” is you site site and homepage, you actually want your home page listed and linked to. Regardless, Connections has no control when, where or how Google list results in its index. That is completely up to Google and their secret sauce, sorry.

Participantsorry Steve, I should explain myself better. The website is http://www.morgan-equester.com and connections is on a page called Equestrian Directory. Within this directory are advertisers using the connections plugin. If I do a google search for a specific name I know is in this directory, once found and clicked on it takes me to the website homepage and not the page with the advert within connections. Does that make more sense to you.

Keymaster@ Paul
It appears that you have redirects setup or WordPress is redirecting for you through a process known as canonical redirect.
Performing this Search to get results from your site:
site:www.morgan-equester.com “Classic Showjumps”Clicking either of the top two results returns “Status Code:301 Moved Permanently” and then is redirected to your home page.
This isn’t Google or Connections doing this. I hope that helps.

GuestYes I understand Steven, but if I turn redirects off I get a 404 error instead. Should I reinstall Connections with redirect off?

Keymaster@ Paul
You don’t need to re-install or do anything with Connections. You need to edit your redirections so the correct pages are redirected to rather than redirecting to the home page.
