ParticipantI was asked to create a online bank of personal skills and talents and connections came to mind. I was wondering if it will fit the bill?
users need to:
1) be able to create and edit their profile (link or form extension ??)
1a) skills and talents will not be from a drop down list (ie will be open to anything, separated by comas, or maybe able to fill 5 custom boxes..2) public need to be able to enter what they are searching for and come up with a list of people matching that key word.
will connections work? which plugins/extensions will i need?
thanks

ParticipantHi I was playing around with connections for this new project. I have tried searching the forums for clear answers but do not seem to find any.
So here goes.
Ideally, I would like to have
- custom text fields that are searchable
- Custom fields that can be user inputted via the form extension.
If this is not possible my next option would be to:
- change the notes field name in form, and in profile displays to say skills.
- change the name of other searchable text fields in the form to say skills
I installed the free extension (education level, languages) but even these to not seem to be searchable. (ie list people who speak french) did i miss a setting somewhere?
I will likely use a cmap or market templates.
- where would custom fields be shown here.
- Can the notes part be open by default?
I think that is all for now
thanks for great plugin.

Sorry, right now the custom fields are not searchable “out of the box”. This is a planned enhancement.
If you need the skills and talents to be searchable you can rename the “notes” field as you suggested or you could add them as categories under a sub category named “Skills” and “Talents”. This would allow the user to filter by either skill or talent use the category drop down on the premium templates.
As far as the having the notes field open by default, sorry no, that can not be done unless you create a custom template file override removing that functionality.
I hope that helps!
