I was able to add a workaround that will return results with 2 and 3 character searches. There is a caveat though… the workaround involves the search searching for terms that begin with those characters. Example…
If I searched for
joy, I would get no results. Now I will, but results would include any term found that begins withjoy, likeJoyce. But if you were to search forJoy LongwordonlyJoy Longwordwould be shown as a result. The actual query still dropsJoyand only actually searches forLongword.Another enhancement is that the results are sorted by relevance as determined by the database (unless the search is only for a small word such as
joy).I hope that becomes helpful.

ParticipantHey Steven this is a great feature and the new search works great, but I have one single problem left. I have an entry “L+Z”. If I search for “L+Z”, Connections searches for the single letters:
You are searching for the keyword(s): L, Z
If I try a phrase search with quotes:
You are searching for the keyword(s): \”L, Z\”
So that doesn’t work neither.
Is there a chance to make the search work with such entries too?

Huh, the plug sign is a space when decoded … but it seems after digging into this that the search input field does not need to be decoded, it is done automagically so by me decoding it, it is being decoded twice.
Any way, the shortcode of it is this is definitely a bug which I’ve just now fixed. I’ll be pushing out a bugfix release either today or tomorrow, version 8.1.5.
Apologies for the inconvenience!
