ParticipantWhich of the templates offer a drop down search of locations please? If any……
and if they do – I presume they take the locations from the current ones in the directory? or just some standard list of locations?
Thank you.

RE: Which of the templates offer a drop down search of locations please?
The drop down search in all templates are to filter by category, so, if your locations are defined by category, all templates. If by location you mean search by zip, you can actually search by zip code by typing in the actual zip code which is supported by all templates.
I guess to better answer your question, I’ll need to know more about what you mean by search by location. Could you describe an example search?

GuestHi, thanks for you reply. I was hoping that there could be a drop down of the available locations (town or county) that are in the directory.
So for example if there were 3 entries in the directory, one in London, one in Plymouth and one in York – a drop down menu would offer London, Plymouth and York as options.
The zip code search – is that only for the paid templates and/or only for US zip codes? When I do a search using a UK postcode it returns nothing.
Thanks.

The advanced search addon I just sent you has an option to enable a drop down search of district, county, region (state/province), country. The options are populated form the direct entries.
In regards to the zip code search, yes, that is part of the keyword search that is available in the paid templates. It is also supported in the keyword search of the advanced search addon too.
If zip code search are not returning results, navigate to the Connections : Settings admin page and click the Search tab. Make sure the Address Zip code is option is enable.
For best results, you want to configure the keyword search to search only the fields you need. The more fields means more to search thru yielding the chance of less relevant results.
If I recall correctly, UK postal code have spaces in them. Is that correct? If it is, then the keyword search field would not be ideal because that space would cause the search to search for each part as a separate word. The advanced search has a dedicated autocomplete postal code search which allows the user to choose the correct postal code. This also is a radius search so entries within a defined radius will be returned as search results too.
