ParticipantHi Steven – the rolodex feature above the directory that allows a user to filter the records by alphabetical character seems to not be functioning on our site. Can anyone help with this? Is this a common problem?
Thanks in advance!
PS, the directory is in a pword protected area of the site, you’ll probably have to contact me to get the pword if you need to view the directory.

The character index, rolodex, has never filtered by character. It will only jump to the character group of the character clicked if that character group is on the current page of results. This functionality is slated to change this summer to filter by character sometime this summer. About 90% of the work is already complete as you can see it already functioning on the Manage page in the admin.
Hope that helps.

ParticipantHi Steven, thanks for the quick response! I actually can’t even get the functionality you described above to work. When clicke, it appears to have no effect other than jumping to the top of the very first ( letter A) page. No matter which letter I click, it does not redirect to any other letter. Thanks in advance, again!

KeymasterAre any of the other characters on the same page? For example, last names that begin with “M”, clicking “M” should take you to where they being in the list only if they exist on the same page. If that is the case, which version of Connections and Tile Plus do you have installed?

ParticipantI’ve just read through your earlier responses and I believe I misunderstood you at first. I think you are saying the character index only works on the same page, or essentially one page, so I should not expect it to call up a different url that contains the desired letter’s records. If this is the case I’ll just remove it until you fix it and release an update, it’s not of much use to me as is. Thanks for your help, nonetheless -otherwise, great plugin!

That correct, it only works when on the same page. It will not filter or jump to the page the character group is on. Originally the premium templates would filter the index so it would only show characters that were on the current page but I got so many requests to show all the letters that when I redid all the templates I decided to show all the letters. I did explain to everyone that it wouldn’t work the way they thought but everyone wanted it anyway. When doing this I did realize it would cause this confusion. So, making the index filter by character is a higher priority feature to implement.
If you have a moment, please leave a review. Thanks for your time!
