Participanthello, I have renewed a license that was previously in use on an other site… however the cvs import plugin has been removed from the first site, and the error message I am seeing on the new site is that the activation limit has been reached.
I am trying to re-deploy the same content/plugins on a new domain/site.Can you please help me?
Thanks,
Rob-

ParticipantThanks you did help me deactivate the old one and activate the new one, thank you!… but now the import doesn’t actually import the listings?
I have exported settings and exported “all”.Then I go to the new site., and import each sequentially . Along the way I receive “success!” messages yet not listings are actually added.
What am I doing wrong?

Please make sure the CSV file meets the requirements.
After you’ve done that, that a moment to read the tips. If the requirements and tips are followed there should not be an issue importing the file.
Also, please refer to the second paragraph in this FAQ as I think it is the reason you are not seeing items being imported:
One last suggestion if none of this works… If you have not upgraded Connections to version 8.11, please do so now. After the upgrade is complete navigate to the Connections : Settings tab and click the Betas tab. Opt into the CSV Import beta. Then navigate to the WordPress Updates admin page and click the Check Again button. Update to the beta version of CSV Import. It provides faster importing of large CSV files and more importantly more feedback during the import process. If CSV rows are skipped or failed it let you know and provide download links to CSV file which contain the skipped and failed rows.
Hope this helps! Let me know.

ParticipantHello and thanks for your reply.
Since the export was from connections I assume the formatting is correct.
So I advanced to your second recommendation, to upgrade to the beta version.
This is a better version for sure since I can see the progress of the import in real time.
If I had to guess I would suspect the way the beta version batches the import is why it worked this time. But who knows ;) it worked.
Thanks!

Yes, the export from Connections does meet the CSV Import file requirements ;)
This is my “stock” answer for the nothing imported question. The solution is nearly always the one presented in the FAQ that I linked to in my previous reply.
If you had not followed the instructions in the FAQ, then it was definitely the beta CSV Import that worked. The reason being I added logic to the import to account for that common error :D
Any great to hear that this is sorted!

ParticipantThanks I knew how to do that “manually” but i was hoping like some other plugins that there was a way to extend the connection categories to the wp menu structure.
Perhaps a feature request for your next update?
Thank you!

Unfortunately adding such a feature is not practical to add. Many users put the directory many pages throughout their site separating them based on category. There would be no way to to know which one of these pages the permalink should resolve to.

Participantactually you could do… “if top category, then menu option”… right?
Any way, thanks!

RE: actually you could do… “if top category, then menu option”… right?
Sorry, I’m not sure what you mean…
Maybe I can elaborate more of why this is not practical.
Suppose a user has 4 pages where they embedded the directory. Each of these 4 pages display a different category excluding the other categories. There is no way for Connections to know to which of the 4 pages that the category link should resolve to. With single page directories, this is not an issue as the page set as the directory home page would be used. This very reason is why the widgets in the Widget Pack only support resolving to the page set as the directory home page.
Hope this makes more sense.
