ParticipantI read the thread about “Remove organization and department fields from name section” (via css), but here is a new twist. What about removing options from the drop-down lists?
For example, when a user is submitting address info, we don’t need to give them the options of home, school, or other. Same goes for the various phone number options… one is fine in our case.
I don’t think this could be accomplished with CSS alone… maybe a custom function of some sort?

Here’s a bit of CSS to hide the address and phone type/preferred/visibility options:
#cn-form .widget.address .widget-top, #cn-form .widget.phone .widget-top { display: none; }Hope that helps!

ParticipantThanks for your quick reply. That definitely simplifies things.
However, in the database, the address and phone data land in the first field available, which in my case is “home” and “home phone,” respectively. (I’m intending to collect work phone and work address.) The admin can easily edit the type on the backend, but I know people will almost always forget to do so when approving records.
Is there a different approach that perhaps just limits what appears on the dropdown list, vs eliminating the options entirely?

Yes, this is doable too. See this reply on how to do that.

You could combine this with the CSS I gave you to hide the options… if you remove all but the one choice, it’ll automatically default to the choice that is left.
Hope that helps!

ParticipantThanks! That worked perfectly. Exactly what I needed.

ParticipantSorry, it appears there is one more nagging issue. When I remove lat/lon from the address options (via css display:none) everything looks great (see no-geo.png).
But when I take out country, the formatting goes to heck. (no-geo_no_country.png) I’ve poked around in the CSS, but I have to admit I’m stumped.
Are you able to re-create this issue on one of your own installs? If not I’ll have to assume my template is the cause.
The site is in development on a firewalled server, otherwise I would share the link…

My guess is the theme is floating inputs, by default inputs are not floated. That said, this works for be:
#cn-form .address-country, #cn-form .address-geo { display: none; }Best guess without knowing what exactly is affecting the layout is to add this:
#cn-form .address-region { clear: both }Hope that helps!
