Participanthow can i edit the form to only 1 address, phone, and email type? I.e. remove the drop down selections of home, work, etc. Im looking to remove the drop down option completely and just have a default value.
Also, how can I limit it so only 1 physical address can be added and only 1 link can be added?

Sorry, no. Doing such changes requiring editing the source PHP code in Form. Form 2.0 is about to be released which makes this easier and in an update safe but it still requires quite a bit of actual PHP coding.

Please read this QuickTip and easy text changes.
The Domain for Form is
connections_form
. I recommend adding to for each string you wish to change, One for Form, the other for Connections.Hope that helps.

ParticipantYeah I think the form is working but I’ve yet to test it outside of an admin acct. I added the say what plugin recommended, and I just don’t see it anywhere except the plugins list. I keep checking it’s activated but nowhere.
I’m writing the email sent to the members who create an entry. I was wondering if there is a way to include the username or something. I know a bunch of plugins use the % username % option.

re: finding Say What?
from the QuickTip: “After you install and activate the Say What? plugin there will be a new menu item added under the Tools admin menu name Text changes.”re: I know a bunch of plugins use the %username% option.
For something like that to work, the email would have to be sent using Connections. Connections currently doesn’t offer a way to email directory entries. I’ll likely create an extension for that.05/31/2014 at 11:37 am #292637Chris Cox

re: So if I change the text Home to Preferred how would that work without changing it site wide?
No, only within Connections. That is why you need to add the Domain. I assumeHome
as in the address, yes? Original string isHome
, Domain isconnections
and Replacement string isPreferred
… just like in the QuickTip.re: And see the screenshot as per no email :-)
You previously stated you haven’t tested while logged out … please logout. Email notifications are only sent when logged out or if the user that is logged in and adding the entry does not have permission to add an entry. You have permission to add an entry while logged in, so no email, because, well, you know you added the entry. It doesn’t make sense to send you an email about something you know you did, right? :)05/31/2014 at 3:53 pm #292651Chris Cox
ParticipantHey you never know there’s confirmations of all kind. And when you can require a member to be logged and see the compose email option, lol.
My site is configured only certain roles even have access to the submission form (with the exception while the issues are being worked out).
How does the geocode work? I input the address without the lat/Lon as most people don’t know that info. I clicked geocode thinking it would populate it. But nothing happened. After I clicked edit again the lat/Lon was there.
A lot of this is figuring out what to tell members you. Gotta have that support down.

I see, you’re setup is a bit more complex than most…
re: How does the geocode work?
When you click that, a little map should show up under the address with pin showing the address on the map and the lat/long should auto populate. If you’re not seeing that, then the theme or another plugin is not limiting its javascript to its own admin page and causing a fatal error which is causing javascript to crash. You can identify the error by opening the page in Chrome, hit the F12 key, click the Console tab and then enter an address and click the Geocode button. Any errors that occur will be listed in the Console. If you mouse hover over the filename on the right, it’ll show the file path. Read the path. Most often that’ll be the clue to identify if it a plugin and which one or the theme. -
