GuestHi Steven,
I am using Excerpt Plus and have a consultant directory with approximately 400 listings. I am using a random sort to display the listings, with 40 listings to a page. Problem is that when you click to go to page 2 it resorts randomly and includes listings already viewed on page 1. Any ideas?
Thanks,

I recently became aware of this issue. I do not yet have a fix for it, but I will have one completed and in place for the forthcoming 0.8 release which is due out soon’ish. Unfortunately the only fix for the time being is not to use the random sort option.

I just fixed this. The fix will be part of the 0.8 version.
It’ll be randomized based on the visiting user’s IP address and time. The results will be randomized on the hour per IP. For example, you visit your site from work, you’ll see the same results until the hour changes. After the hour changes, the results will be re-randomized. A site visitor visiting your site at the same time would see a different random results list which would refresh on the hour. At the hour change you and that site visitor would see different random results which would be the same until the hour changes.
Hope that makes sense.

GuestHi Steven,
That makes perfect sense and will work well for someone paging through who wants to go back to a specific page. Any way we can run this on our site prior to the release?
Sorry for my delayed response…just found this post.

You could pull a copy of this file. Click the link and save the page as
class.retrieve.phpand upload it to the ../connections/includes/` folder, overwriting the origin. It should be perfect safe to run this way. If you do run into issues, just restore the original version of the file.
OR
You could run the development version. Download here.

GuestUsing option 1 uploading the single file produced this error:
Fatal error: Class ‘cnUtility’ not found in /home/content/25/6710325/html/FengShui/wp-content/plugins/connections/includes/class.retrieve.php on line 729

Darn, sorry, I forgot that added the use of that file, specifically for the random fix.
Guess you’ll have to run the dev version if you need the fix now.
