ParticipantI am now using the JNB Multicolor Theme, is there a safe way to edit the Connections Search Widget with? You had it set up as 140px and I needed it to be 120px. The theme I am using widget column 180px which is just a smidgen too small (with all the padding and stuff), it splits the search field and submit button. For now I shrunk the search by 20px ( Connections-develop/assets/css/cn-user.min.css line 21 ) to compensate however the next update I’m sure will wipe that out. Or an alternative solution is to design the search widget with an option to set search field above the submit button (that don’t look like it has been ‘broken off’ the search field).
I have written the author of the theme I’m using to see if there is a way to widen the column. However it does not look like an easy fix as it looks like he is using images to create the custom borders around the column (I tried and broke the page layout).
I know you are likely to tell me to choose another theme and I would, however it is not easy to find a bright and simple looking theme that looks good with the cMap theme of your plug-in. If you have some suggestions, I’m open to them.
Sorry if I am becoming a bother, I really do appreciate the wonderful plug-in you have developed and the help you have given me thus far.
Thanks in advance.

Nope, I would never tell you to choose a different theme … well, maybe I would, only if it were in your absolute best interest.
If the theme has a custom CSS area, add the following to it and if it does not, add it to the end of its styles.css file:
#cn-search-input { width: 120px !important; }That should resize the input width. It will also affect the search width above the template too. I can’t remember if I had a link to your site or not, sorry, But I could give more specific CSS so only the widget is affected if you could share a link to your site.
Hope that helps.

ParticipantThe author of the ‘JNB Multicolor Theme’ had responded back with instructions on how to ‘adjust’ the theme, apparently it was an ‘old’ theme and has no plans for updates to it. Since I fixed the theme, it is not so important for this request to adjust the search widget. If you do have answers to this issue, it would still be useful to others and maybe to myself in the future.
Thanks.

ParticipantYou just sneaked in that reply just before mine.
Thanks for that information, I totally forgot about overriding the CSS in the document (duh, You just showed me that in a previous post), I think I need some sleep. ;)

Good to hear. You also now have multiple ways you can use to make the adjustment.
