GuestI’m needing to set up a directory that has the category drop down box. The most important thing is that I have the ability to easily show Sponsor’s info in a bigger way at the top of each category. Do you have a template that makes this possible? I like the idea of have cmap but would also be interested in Slim plus is there is a way to make the non-sponsor listings a simple one line deal and have the sponsor listings open. Cmap is very nice but I don’t love that all the listings appear to take up a lot of space. I want my sponsors to be the only ones deep listing boxes.

GuestA few more thoughts…
If this isn’t possible, do any of the premium templates have an easy option to allow for the set up of different categories, on separate pages, so that I could use the template for sponsor listings only, and just hand key the non-sponsor listings at the bottom of the web page, for the category they belong in? I think this sounds like an easier option that would take up less space if set up is simple.06/16/2014 at 8:24 am #293981Steven Zahm

I’m thinking any template with a category drop down could meet your requirements…
One option could be to put your sponsors in the category description on the Connections : Categories admin page. When a user selects a category, the category description would be displayed above the category the user chose. YOu can decide it this option will suit you by directly visiting a category. Load you site in a browser and type in a URL something like this:
http://domain.tld/directory-home-page/cat/category-slug
The category slug can be found on the Connections : Categories admin page. Make sure you have the Category Description option enabled on the Connections : Settings admin page under the Display tab.
In regards to the option you suggested, yes, there is a way to limit based on category. See the doc page for the category shortcode option. If you decide to go this route, This FAQ for cMap may be of interest. This FAQ will work with any of the templates with a category drop down.
I hope that helps!
